About this deal

The edges of this Espresso needle distributor have tiny circles. So, you can stir coffee ground thoroughly without scratching the portafilter. The best diameter for the WDT needles is 0.4mm. Needles between 3.5mm and 4 mm are the best at fluffing your coffee grounds in the portafilter, creating a perfectly even distribution of the grounds.

The manufacturer has used food-grade anticorrosion stainless steel to make the needles. Due to its rust-proof attribute, it does not bother the Espresso quality. Make sure the size of the distribution leveler/tamper will fit the filter basket of the espresso machine. Most distribution tools come in 54mm and 58mm, which fit most commercial and home espresso machines. Opt for a good size handle with a firm grip and ease of hand when choosing a tamper or stirrer. 2. Weight The SANTOW Espresso Coffee Stirrer WDT Tool will suit users who prefer a plain design with a wooden handle. Its user-friendly structure allows you to distribute coffee ground properly in the filter basket.Use the blade side to even out the ground coffee and the flat surface for tamping. 2. How do you use an Espresso Distribution Tool? The last one that I thought up while designing this experiment is to measure density of the tamped coffee. To do this, one needs a dosing tool or piece of plastic/metal that scrapes out coffee grinds above a certain level in the basket. This would leave ~95% of the coffee grinds in the basket taking up a consistent volume of space in the basket. After distributing and tamping each basket, one could scrape the coffee grounds away, leaving a very consistent volume of grinds in the basket each time. If this consistent volume of space held differing weights of coffee grinds each time then the method is inconsistent. I have rather strong opinions about distribution but – as with a lot of coffee techniques – I have never really tested it thoroughly. My method makes sense to me and feels consistent, yet still it looks like I might distribute differently to ~90% of you! This is both worrying and comforting.

Espresso distribution tools come in a few different forms, each with its own brewing purpose. Here’s what each one does: Tantamount to personal hygiene is that of the bar. Distribution shouldn’t create any mess. If it does you’re wasting coffee and decreasing accuracy ofthe amount of coffee in the basket. You’re also doing future you a disservice by making them clean up your mess.
