It has one route and 15 stops that link the airport with the new parts of the city. Route John BARTHOLOMEW - Plan of Edinburgh & Leith with suburbs, from ordnance and actual surveys, constructed for the Post Office DirectoryPortion of the city of Edinburgh showing the relative positions of W. & A.K. Johnston's New Works, Easter Road and their office, 16 South St. Andrew Street..

Robert KIRKWOOD - Plan of the city of Edinburgh and town of Leith with their environs. Shewing all the recent & intended improvements, lines of railway, &c.Calton Hill - Studded with a bizarre collection of Neoclassical architecture, this is the best of many great viewpoints from which to gaze out over the city. Arthur's Seat and Holyrood Park - It's rare to find a hike of such natural beauty in any city. But Edinburgh is no ordinary metropolis. You can walk to the top of Arthur's Seat or cheat and drive to the park — either way, you find great views. Old Town - This is the core of historic Edinburgh, with the centrepiece Royal Mile and its string of key attractions running east from the castle down to Holyrood, home of the royal palace and brand-new parliament. The tangled passageways and courtyards which lead off the Mile are far less touristy, and remain evocative of the area's medieval character. Royal Mile stretches for about 1.6km (1 mile) from Edinburgh Castle downhill to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The Royal Mile is one boulevard with four segments bearing different names: Castlehill, Lawnmarket, High Street, and Canongate. An infamous street at the southern base of the castle is the Grassmarket, both a street and a district, where convicted criminals were once hanged on the gallows. Today it's home to restaurants, pubs, and hotels. The New Town, constructed between 1767 and 1890, is framed by an uncommonly high concentration of planned ensembles of ashlar‐faced, world‐class, neo‐classical buildings, associated with renowned architects, including John and Robert Adam, Sir William Chambers, and William Playfair. Edinburgh is a truly beautiful city, especially in the Old Town area, which is dotted with gorgeous medieval buildings. It's not really that difficult to find your way through the beautiful cobblestone streets of Edinburgh. But if you have a copy of the Edinburgh tour map, you'll have an even more enjoyable time in the city.

The Edinburgh tram is not very useful for tourists except to go to and from the airport. The best way to get around the centre is by foot or by bus. It takes 35 minutes to get to Princes Street (the closest stop to the city centre) from Edinburgh Airport. Special Services – First-class transport connections for large-scale events and visitor attractions. ca. 1680 - James GORDON - Castrum Edinense quod olim Arx Puellarum = The castell of Edinborrowgh from the west porte
