About this deal

Example: Jane is the Conspirator. There is nothing on her notebook. She tries to analyze the two previous cards and looks for something that could fit in. There is water on both cards - maybe the word is "water "? She chooses a card with a big blue wave. The Fire Chest is behind a counter that players will run into not long after passing through the corridor from Sean's Values. The Chest can be opened once the Fire Key has been retrieved from beyond the Code Door, and kung fu video game fans will receive the Sean's Father Detective Board entry when that has occurred. If there is a tie, tied player with greater amount of victory point tokens wins, if still tied, all tied players share victory. Alternatively, you might be the conspirator and get away with it because you happened to have cards that fit the theme perfectly. Or you're just an amazing liar.

Example: Bill is a Detective. He can see that Mike wrote "nature" in his notebook, so he plays a card that displays the sea. That should be enough. After all players have made their case, players now vote on who they think the liar was. The “informer” does not participate in the vote. Starting with the player to their left, players go one by one putting their magnifying glass on the board of the player they think is the liarTopics can be very specific (for instance Space Opera , USA", "Protagonists"..). or general ("Movies", "Countries", "Literature" ) depending on the level of difficulty you want to play with. Once all players have played a card, the Active Player plays a second card, and so on until everyone played two cards. Then the active player will play one of their cards to the center of the table that they believe relates to their chosen word. Every player will go around the table doing the same. Everyone plays a second card and then the active player will announce out loud what the word was. Of course, that is old news to almost everyone. You’ll get a notebook with the chosen word in it… or not.

Players keep their VP Tokens face down. Once the Scoring Phase is complete, a new round begins: the Active Player passes his marker to the player that sits on his left.

Randomly choose the first Active Player. That player receives the pen (which is the Active Player Marker) and takes one notebook for each other player in the game (for instance, in a 7-player game, the Active Player would take 6 notebooks). Detective Club” is once again opening its doors to new members. You are also invited, but first you must prove yourself as a real detective. Analyze all the evidence, listen to the witnesses and try to find out who is lying among your group. Only the most observant and the most cunning will be able to succeed and achieve victory. Welcome to to the club! The Active Player looks at his cards and comes up with a word, keeping in mind that he will be able to use two cards from his hand to describe that word.

After everyone has played their cards, the “informer” announces what the clue was. Starting with the player to their left, they need to explain to everyone how their cards match the clue, proving of coarse that they knew the clue. You will need to lie or stretch as necessary. Once the voting happens, the scoring isn’t really that important. If you are the type of player who likes to play the games to win them, Detective Club is probably not for you. It serves as a fun experience but scoring points (and playing the suggested number of rounds) isn’t really what most people involved are going to want to do. If you're a Detective, make sure to play solid Evidence cards to avoid being accused during the Voting Phase! The fun of Detective Club comes from the explanation step of the round. It’s where you, as a person who knew the word but had terrible cards to go with it, have to really sell your friends on why you played their card with a hot air balloon on it when the word was “boat”. (Obviously, the answer was the balloon is someone like a parachute and you can parasail behind a boat.) Player’s vote on who they believe is the conspirator.

Setup

Devoir trouver des détails et des indices correspondants au mot donné (si tu le connais), c’est ce que je préfère dans le jeu.

The books that the active player will write the word on, are thematic in design. But also a bit of a hassle. I think the game would have benefited from some white boards and marker pens. Instead of small pads of paper. This would help with game speed. When the active player is writing in all the books, and help with shuffling, before passing them out to the players. The rest of the components are great though. With each player having a small wooden magnifying glass, used for voting. The only way the active player will score points will be if the Conspirator successfully conceals their identity. This means that the active player will want to choose a word which will allow the Conspirator to turn a generic card into a justifiable card. For example, if the active player chooses the word ‘square’ and the Conspirator does not play a card with a square on it, then it will be difficult to justify the card, whereas if the chosen word is ‘fantasy’, then the Conspirator is able to use their imagination a bit more to justify their cards. Once all players have laid down two cards in front of them, the clue giver then reveals the theme to the table. After this revelation, each player besides the clue giver takes turns explaining exactly how the cards in front of them fit the theme. This is easily the best part of Detective Club because player success is not necessarily determined by whether they knew the theme or not. Players will then talk about how the cards they chose relate to the word. If you didn’t know the word to begin with, you’ll have to think on your feet and try to justify it somehow. It’s certainly possible you did know the word and, because you are limited to the six cards in your hand, just didn’t have anything plainly obvious to use so the descriptions can get pretty creative. If there are 2 or more Tokens on the Conspirator's Player Marker, then the Conspirator and the Active Player do not score any VP. Example: Bill and Dustin think that Jane is the Conspirator because she was unable to explain her cards clearly. Bill places her Voting Token next to Jane's Player Marker. She in return, votes against Bill, hoping that Dustin will make a wrong choice. Before the first round, players choose a topic. When the active player chooses a word on his turn he must make sure that this word matches the topic that was decided at the beginning of the game. Thematic Game – Before the first round, players choose a topic. As the informer, choose a word on your turn. You must make sure your word matches the overall topic chosen. Topics can be very general or specific depending on how difficult you want to make things. If there is o or 1 Token on the Conspirator's Player Marker, then the Conspirator scores 5 VP and the Active Player scores 4 VP.
