Never Fade, for me had lots happening in it. There was the overall mission but also so much growth with the characters. Ruby has really grown into her power and while that could make her a horrible monster thrilled on her power she hates having to use it and that keeps her very human and relatable even as she tries to shut out all emotion. Her struggle doing what she does working with the League and her knowing that she feels she made the right call saving her friends even when she misses them. We also get to know some new characters, some we just love from the start and others…let's say a bit less so. Still the new dynamic of the League and getting to know more about them from the inside was great. While they were one of the bad guys in the previous book, we learn there is more than one side to things. Ruby has joined the Children's League and the others in the first book are out on their own. I should have re-read that one first but it's all good. Sparks Rise, published September 2, 2014, is a novella that connects Never Fade to In The Afterlight and The Darkest Legacy. In the Afterlight [ edit ] The Darkest Minds 2 series is a sequel of the main movie which fans can expect in the years 2022 or 2023. The 2nd part of the series seems to be revolving around the teen kids who have superpowers with a different plot. Ruby is trying to find a way out of the Children's League when she learns that there is a divide between the agents - there are those who want to help the kids with powers and generally care about them and then those wanting them ALL dead. Rubby sets out on a secret mission with Jude and later Vida and Chubs join the search to find Liam. Who doesn't know he has the flash drive with sensitive information. Information that could initially close the camps and allow the nation to rebuild.

At the end there is a big ole revelation that I wonder if it will come to pass in the next book. I want it for the kids but . . . . lets just say I like them the way they are to a certain extent.The Darkest Minds 2 will be coming somewhere in 2022 or 2023 as confirmed by cinemaholic.com.
