Bank file is a .zip file that contains 50 patch files. It can be edited as normal .zip file if you need. The MS-50G’s front panel features three parameter knobs, which also function as buttons. These buttons can be used to open various menus, where you can then use the parameter knobs to tweak your effects settings to your liking. Remove and/or rearrange effect units, turn the AUTO-SAVE function ON and OFF, recall patches and more with ease and efficiency.

The MS-50G can operate on three different power sources: AC adapter (sold separately), batteries or USB bus power when plugged into your computer. Two AA alkaline batteries (included) provide seven hours of continuous use. The sounds in the MS-50G are stored in a total of 50 patch memories. The first 30 come with sounds pre-programmed at the factory, but all can be overwritten. Pressing the central control knob calls up the patch list, and you can turn the control to scroll through and select patches. If you'd like to use a different type of modulation for a number of songs in your set but don't have the space to put phaser, flanger, chorus and tremolo pedals on your 'board, the MS-50G could be the answer.

Be aware, though, that in this mode (simply called up by pressing the centre knob so the patch list is in the display), the effect bypass function of the footswitch will be out of use, so you'll be going from one active effect to the next.

Control

The rest of the effects provide a wide-ranging selection of standalone sounds that could sit side by side with your existing pedal set; we can see the MS-50G easily slotting into the role of a supplementary element on your pedalboard. The company’s demo video – which features Chaka Khan and Wyclef guitarist Kappa Tanabe – showcases everything from auto-wah to modulated delay, spring reverb, tri-chorus and a sitar simulation that’s… not hugely convincing. Still, we’ll reserve judgement ’til we’ve played with the thing.

Note that device's "AUTOSAVE" mode is independent to this behavior. A patch may be stored to memory by operation of device itself. Show Patch as text' displays a patch expressed in text (hex string). It can be used for copying, saving, posting to BBS/forum/reddit/etc. etc.
