About this deal

But what’s even more impressive is the handy addition of a grass bag indicator to let you know when it’s time to empty. The Worx WG779E.2 34cm lawnmower uses two 2.0Ah 20V batteries simultaneously for extra power and runtime. With intellicut technology, the mower adjusts its speed and power to grass condition therefore providing constant cutting power. Six height settings give you the cut you want, all with the ease of a single lever cutting depth adjustment. Intellicut technology adjusts speed automatically with different grass conditions so it keeps consistent cutting efficiency in dense grass.

On the whole, you’re getting a pretty decent mower with the WORX WG743E.1 and it’s difficult to see that there are many cons to report. However, if you are looking for a downside, this could be that there is no roller for creating a stripy lawn – if that takes your fancy.

The Worx WG779E.2 is a well-built, sturdy mower designed to last. My only gripe would be that the cutting blade may need replacing after a certain amount of use, but this is a standard maintenance requirement for most mowers, and it’s easy enough to do yourself or take it to a professional. Additionally, you may need to replace the batteries more often if you’re using the mower frequently or in particularly tough conditions (such as on hilly terrain or in wet weather). WORX 40V WG779E.2 Verdict You can easily change the cutting height from two centimetres up to seven centimetres, using a handle by the front wheels. My lawn was a little overgrown before the first use, so to avoid battling with long grass, I set the mower to it's highest length to trim it ahead of trying a lower grade. This was unnecessary based on use since – the mower makes light work of even dense couch grass and weeds that have been left to run wild. Another great feature of this mower is an easy to see battery gauge on the top of the mower; you would think this is standard with all cordless mowers, however, this is not the case. Well done WORX for including this! This WORX WG779E.2 review is not complete if we don’t mention its cutting diameter. The cutting diameter of this machine stands at 34 centimetres, making it ideal for lawns with medium size. That is why it is perfect for cutting narrow strips in your garden. Grass Box Not only are you getting a precision cut with this mower but you’ll also notice that it features six cutting height positions so you’re free to get your lawn looking exactly how you want it – if the WORX WG743E.1 is anything, it’s versatile.

I really struggled with this mower to find any downsides. The features are great and all seem to work well for a mower at this price point. The build quality cannot be faulted and it performs as it should. In comparison, the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 takes the same 2 hours to charge as the WG779E.2 but the the WORX will last longer with the ability to cut a lawn up to 350 m². This is surprising as the Flymo Mighti-Mo 300 weighs 3 kg less than the WG779E.2. Of course, the cordless design means that you’ll no longer have to avoid mowing over the cord which, as we know, only serves to get in the way and often poses a safety hazard. Safety Features The eco mode is really useful if your lawn has been cut recently and you don’t require the additional power to cut longer grass with the turbo mode, this eco setting does extend the mowing time considerably.

As long as you’re a regular mower, this cordless classic’s hard to beat

As mentioned before, you can use Turbo or Eco modes to cut your lawn. I have used both and find the Eco mode is sufficient for regular summer cuts. I think I might need Turbo for the first cut after winter and would use it for cutting meadow-like lawns. Having not tested this mower on wet grass, I can't say how it performs, but based on the first mow (of a rather unruly lawn) I don't think it will struggle too much. WORX batteries are covered by a 1 Year Limited Consumer Warranty and are not eligible for warranty extension. The handle folds away for easy storage so it won’t end up taking up masses of space in your shed or outbuilding. Furthermore there are two feet at the rear of the mower allowing you to store this product vertically, saving even more space. The 4.0Ah also weighs more than the smaller, 2.0Ah so this might affect your decision if you are looking to powershare the battery with other Worx tools. While a heavier battery is not that noticeable in a mower, you might want to use the lighter 2.0Ah in things like cordless drills. However, the 4.0Ah is comparable in size and weight to the large batteries I have used on cordless drills from multiple brands and well worth the extra expense if you want the benefit or longer cutting times (a must for larger gardens). Having the choice to go between various heights is big advantage for people looking to achieve a healthy and vibrant lawn, as you can easily adjust the heights to accommodate the lawn’s condition throughout the year, whether it’s short, long, or somewhere in-between.
