So I’ll tell you what I did with my Viparspectra XS1500. I hooked the wire hangers to the device and then hooked the ratchet hangers to the wire hangers. Viparspectra uses a combination of Bridgelux and Epileds, bothwell-known LED manufacturers that make quality chips. Excessive heat inside your growing area could hurt your indoor plants.In this article, I’m going to take a look at their product line and give my Viparspectra review from top to bottom. Is it ok to run it at 75-80% during flower or should I raise it to 24' and adjust my settings on my ac infinity? And just to be clear, those ppf values are TERRIBLE! At 24", you get a huuuge hotspot (note, hotspot means light, not heat) in the middle and very little on the edges. Something worth noting is that cannabis will only grow fastest and yield the most when the PPFD (PPF over a space, a measurement of PAR) is between ~600-1000 without co2 and 1000-1500 with co2. Anything less than about 600ppfd will slow veg growth and give you smaller buds of lesser quality. Now this 300w viparspectra light is no where even NEAR that. When you take the PPF values (the numbers) across the 2x2 area (this light should cover a 2x2 space) and average them out, you get 125 PPFD. Ever see 1-3" a day growth during veg in SOIL? Ever see super frosty, chunky bud? That's because the ppfd was in or around the 600-1000 range. Ever see stretchy plants? Larfy, fluffy bud? Long internodal distance? Well, it's probably because your PPFD is too low and YES, it will slow down veg considerably and TANK your yields in flower.
Q: Does regular LED lighting provide any benefit for growing? Would it be a beneficial addition to ViparSpectra grow lights? The uniformity of light makes photosynthesis more efficient. Your plants will grow and produce more. The common way to evaluate uniformity is to divide the maximum PPFD by the Minimum PPFD. A perfectly uniform light would have a score of 1.0. The ViparSpectra KS5000 has a Uniformity score of 1.62. Competitive LED bar fixtures have Uniformity scores from 2.44 up to 3.45. First off is the spectrum. As we know, red light has a huge affect during flowering on yields (MH vs. HPS for example) and blue light makes for short, compact plants, which is great in veg/early flower. The viparspectra 300w spectrum (which is here) is EXTREMELY blue and has very little red in it. In the market today, most of the LED grow lights you can find includes a piece of hanging equipment. This way, you can hang your lights in your grow tent or grow room. So there we have it. Viparspectras have a spectrum that is only suitable during veg, and IS very bad for flowering. And they present themselves as a legit company with stuff such as long warranties (THAT THEY DO NOT HONOR) and cool led panel design/features. But the reality of it is, these lights have the worst spectrum for bloom you'll ever come across, and they charge a premium over other competitors like mars.
