About this deal

Umik-1 on Ipad: Our technical team has been testing the UMIK-1 along with few ipad apps. A plug&play setup for a full featured measurement + SPL meter running from the Ipad. Amarra Symphony: Amarra Symphony with IRC is an advanced music file player for the Apple Mac platform. It includes a feature called "Impulse Response Correction" (IRC), that corrects for acoustical errors at the listening position caused by early reflections from the speaker and listening room. It also provides the ability to tailor the response at the listening position using target curves. The UMIK-2 is of course fully compatible with REW (Room EQ Wizard) and Dirac Live (version 3 and later). Driverless operation with macOS, Linux, Android and iOS, and a supplied ASIO driver for Windows ensure simple integration into many other measurement and recording applications. With the UMIK-2, miniDSP once agains stretch the limits of affordable acoustic measurement gear. Let the measurement fun begin! Features The scale at the right of the graph is the phase values. Since we are not looking at phase in this app note, this can be ignored.) miniDSP assembled some very comprehensive steps by steps for the UMIK-1 for all sorts of applications. Please make sure to start reading our application notes to be up and running in no time!

REW: miniDSP worked along with John Mulcahy to develop even greater compatibility for the UMIK-1 inside REW! With the latest beta release of REW (v5.01 and up), the UMIK-1 is automatically recognized by the software and prompted for use when REW is started with the microphone plugged in.Note the general comment that we'll actually only feed 2.0 (binaural) with this configuration. Both Facebook/Youtube will take it as such.

miniDSP offers products that can be used to equalize a system or apply full-range room correction, such as the nanoDIGI 2x8 (digital in-out, parametric EQ), miniDSP 10x10 HD (multichannel analog in-out, parametric EQ), and OpenDRC-DI and OpenDRC-AN (digital or analog in-out, FIR filtering and room correction). Note that equalization for room correction should generally make use of multiple measurements over the listening area, as measured response will change with microphone position. REW offers a set of plots that show how different frequencies decay in time. These are generally used in the "modal region" of the room's acoustic response, from say 20 to 300 Hz, where resonances in the room dominate the measured frequency response. A well-known plot of this type is the "waterfall" plot, or cumulative spectral decay: For stereo system (e.g. 2ch dirac live, single speaker measurement), use the 0deg file and point the UMIK-2 at the speakers For stereo system (e.g. 2ch dirac live, single speaker measurement), use the 0deg file and point the UMIK-1 at the speakersDid you definitely have the correct calibration file for the orientation of the microphone in each case? Getting this wrong for one of the microphones could cause this sort of difference I think. The Options screen can be used to set options, such as octave or third-octave display, frequency weighting, response time, and whether or not the display scales automatically. Asynchronous USB Audio Class 2 Bidirectional streaming with ASIO drivers under Windows, driverless under MAC OSx

Please note that OBS is third-party software. miniDSP is not able to directly provide support for this software. For questions or issues specifically related to OBS, please refer to the OBS Forum and its online tutorials. Upon opening SignalScope Pro, it will detect the presence of the connected UMIK-1 and query you for its serial number: Mount the UMIK-1 into the small stand supplied with it, or if you like, you can use any other microphone stand. To connect the UMIK-1 to your Apple iPad, you will need either the Lightning to USB adapter (for newer iPads with an 8-pin Lightning connector) or the Camera Connection Kit (for older iPads with a 30-pin connector). This photo shows an iPad mini connected to the UMIK-1 via the Lightning adapter:

Tap on Sig Gen at the bottom of the screen. You can experiment with the different types of test signal here. For now, set it as shown below, adjusting the volume so that it plays through the system at a comfortable level. Ensure that the signal generator is enabled at the top right, and turn signal generation on and off with Play/Pause button (next to the Headphones label at the top left. Adjust the level with the iPad volume control and the Noise Amplitude slider, and use the Noise Pan control to send output to only one speaker. You're now up and running with the Audio side. You'll want to add your webcam or external video sources to the sources of OBS as per the manual of OBS. The UMIK-1 is an Omni-directional USB measurement microphone providing plug-and-play acoustic measurement. From speaker and room acoustic measurement to recording, this microphone provides low noise and accurate results you can rely on. Forget about driver installation, OS compatibility and un-calibrated mics. The UMIK-1 is a USB Audio class 1 device automatically recognized by Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems, and iPad with camera connection kit. It is provided with a unique calibration file based on the serial number to insure an accurate measurement. Combined with our recommended acoustic measurement software, it is the perfect match for a plug-and-play measurement system.
