Teaninich was never marketed as a single malt, but in 1992 a Flora and Fauna bottling was released and a few years later three UD Rare Malts bottlings followed. Independent bottlings of Teaninich are rare. In 1819 he sold Teaninich Castle to his brother, General John Munro, and retired to live in the dower house in the castle gardens. His brother inherited the distillery when Hugh died in 1846. Teaninich is rarely seen bottled as a single malt, but it will also mark its bicentenary with the bottling of a 17-year-old expression as part of Diageo’s Special Releases for 2017.

In April 2013 owner Diageo announced a new renovation of the distillery. [2] They also announced a new distillery with 16 new stills will be placed next to the old distillery. The new distillery is planned to have a different name than Teaninich, and produce a separate whisky. [4]
