About this deal

Bush’s reluctance to enter into debate gives him strength. This man is definitely not Cheney’s puppet. But his taciturnity is also the cause of disaster. Critics of the war, he writes, accused the Bush administration of lying, compiling "a small string of comments – ill-chosen or otherwise deficient – to try to depict the administration as purposefully misrepresenting the intelligence." And it's untidy, and freedom's untidy, and free people are free to make mistakes and commit crimes and do bad things.

Today most of physics, and almost all of science, is the study of events — things that happen in the world around us. But what exactly are events? It might seem like a silly question, but modern physics casts doubt on many of the concepts we commonly use to define events: the concept of time in which events play out, the idea of cause and effect that links them together, and the idea that Scene 6: Hare describes how the events of 9/11 happen. He gives the exact times the planes crashed into the twin towers and the Pentagon. It is also explained that the 4th plane was meant to hit the White House but the passengers were able to prevent that from happening. This is what started the War on Terror between "the free and democratic world and terrorism." [2] Stuff Happens! Manage Your Clutter, Clear Your Head and Discover What’s Really Important by Emma Gleeson is published by Penguin/Sandycove Rumsfeld says that two-and-a-half years later he had learned what happened during his interrogation. "I was surprised and troubled. Some of what took place sounded to me as if the interrogation plan may have gone beyond the techniques I approved."With its very large cast of characters (and many meaty roles) Stuff Happens lends itself to school drama productions. We have internalised a narrative around clothing that if an item doesn’t fit or suit, your body is wrong for the clothes. Practise repeating that it’s the clothes that are wrong for your body, not the other way around.

The driving force of the play is in fact the articulation not of morality, but of power. (...) Power is the only pure ideal expressed in war, Hare seems to imply, and the only one fully examined in his play. I didn't expect to find this at the heart of Stuff Happens, but perhaps it isn't so much a political play as a play about politicians - an engrossing, dynamic presentation of the political process with all its frustrated intentions and unrealized ambitions." - Nicholas Hiley, Times Literary Supplement The real figures make the familiar statements, but there are also some (believable) behind-the-scenes recreations. Yet beyond its inspired premise, and the crisp aplomb of Sullivan’s production, Stuff Happens is a catalogue of disappointments. Hare wanted to show how Bush decided to invade Iraq and why Blair chose to follow him. Except for a few last-minute addenda, that means the story stops three years ago, before Abu Ghraib, Plamegate, and the other calamities of the occupation. The play’s action has been, as they say, overtaken by events. Finally a very strong point of society’s perception of the events is given by an Iraqi exile at the end of the book. The Iraqi even admits to hating Saddam Hussein by saying “I even longed for the fall of the dictator”, but the comment that Donald Rumsfeld totally changed his perception of things. He shows this by bringing up the way the Americans who died are counted and given an honorary ceremony but the Iraqi’s are unaccounted for. This shows how the war was totally unfair and that they considered the Iraqis not to be human. All remain familiar from the news reports, so the few words about each are (fortunately) not defining, but rather a reminder, as well as a clue how exactly Hare sees and will utilise them.People are really going through some stuff a lot of the time. You need a while to recover from each person’s story.”

Scene 15: Powell meets with some members of the UN to discuss Iraq and Saddam. De Villepin thinks that the U.S. decided on the process to invade Iraq without coming up with the purpose for it. The U.S. have been leaving out other countries when it comes to their decisions for the last two years so the rest of the UN are cautious when it comes to making plans with the U.S. The French will help the U.S. if their goal is to disarm Saddam but won't help if the goal is to fully invade Iraq. [2] Knowing that much, an intelligent skeptic might wonder whether a dramatist could have anything substantive to add to the mountain of analysis already in print. The concept of this play, particularly as it is the product of a renowned left-wing English playwright, will lead some to expect an exercise in propaganda. But such skeptics are wrong in their assumptions. Stuff Happens is much more than a way to sugar the pill of political history for a complacent audience. Nor is its anti-war stance in any way reflexive or predictable.

NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "A beautifully staged and acted production." MICHAEL BILLINGTON for THE GUARDIAN says, "A very good, totally compelling play." NEAL ASCHERSON for THE OBSERVER says, "Gives us plenty to think about but not enough to stir the emotions." BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE for THE TIMES says, "The dramatist has had the gall to raise serious doubts about the wisdom and honesty of both the Coalition's leaders....a play that strikes me as hard-hitting, yet balanced enough...." Emma's husband Danny makes a number of appearances in the book and she says that the Dannyisms have been a real hit with readers. One particular anecdote which launched an assault on my emotions was when Emma recounted how her husband turned to her one night while they were in bed and he said out of the blue that he thought it was really special that the Harry Potter book he was reading belonged to her. For the American TV show, see Stuff Happens (TV show). For the common slang phrase, see Shit happens. In the pandemic, it’s been easier than ever to fall into this cycle, not least because as humans, we crave novelty and excitement, and opportunities to access this are often limited to experiences such as shopping. The events of September 11, 2001 and the political aftermath, bringing us up to the present day, are then explored in detail.

Yet the disconnect from reality, the complete misunderstanding of what is going on in the country and what the United States (and, to a much lesser extent, its military allies) wrought on display here is, in a way, misleading. That ‘closet full of clothes but shag all to wear’ syndrome, it’s a real thing. Sadly, Emma admits that she has never had a client who didn’t have a version of ‘when I lose weight’ clothes hanging in their wardrobe. Emma’s sustainability wake-up call came very early on in her career, when she moved to London during her 20s to study at the London College of Fashion and her Masters thesis looked at the psychology of over-consumption. Passionate about educating people on the benefits of buying less and buying better, she's an expert on sustainable consumerism and ethical fashion. Emma Gleeson, author of the decluttering guide Stuff Happens! Pic: Supplied STUFF HAPPENS is a historical play by renowned playwright David Hare which focuses on the real-life events that took place prior to the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Conniving president Bush is clearly the bad guy, while Tony Blair is given perhaps more credit than he is due (and certainly shown to repeatedly be the victim of Bush's weasely maneuvers).
