About this deal

There are so many creative things to consider when looking at Christmas hamper ideas – from which type of basket or container to choose, how to decorate your hamper and what to fill it with.

basket patterns in sizes 3 1/8' h x 7 5/8' dia., 4 1/2' h x 6' dia., and 5 1/4' h x 6 3/4' dia. Designed by Lisa Gentry. One of the patterns in Chunky Home Decor - 11 Bulky Yarn Projects from Leisure Arts. Lined Bamboozelle Basket knit with one of my favorite stitches, basketweave cable stitch worked flat and shaped by changing needle sizes. Width at top: 4 inches, Width at base: 3 inches, Height: 3 inches. Designed by Wendy Wonnacott. Pictured projects by the designer, essjay, and qdgirl. Takes about half a skein so it’s a great stashbuster. This stitch is useful, especially if you want to fill broad stems. The weaves come out beautifully making it an interesting stitch to do, especially with threads like Perle cotton or silk. The curves take on easily, but not too sharp curves. Designed by Yarnspirations. Small: Approx 7″ [18 cm] diameter x 6″ [15 cm] tall. Medium: Approx 10″ [25.5 cm] diameter x 7” [18 cm] tall. Large: Approx 14″ [35.5 cm] diameter x 8″ [20.5 cm] tall.

Christmas hampers are a unique and thoughtful handmade gift that can be tailored to suit a recipient's interests and tastes. They can contain a variety of items, such as food, drink, beauty products, and even handmade crafts and decorations. This cute fabric is linked in the supplies. If you’re into minimalist design, go with solid colors or match your fabrics and your handle. Creating a Christmas hamper for a child is so much fun. You don't have to go crazy and break the bank buying them tons of presents to put inside, for them a lot of the excitement is in the unwrapping and discovering what's hidden in the hamper. Adding a lot of little bits, fun trinkets and treats that will keep them busy is a great way to fill the hamper. Step Twelve: Stitch a box with an ‘X’ shape in it on both folded ends to secure them to your laundry basket. Remove pins and repeat on the other handle.

Anything is cuter than dirty clothes strewn across the room, but this fabric laundry basket is making my life much easier! Traditionally, most hampers are wrapped in a clear cellophane so that you can see a bit of what's inside and tied with a bow or ribbon. The bottom of the basket would usually have a layer of shredded paper or raffia that your gifts get nestled into and arranged on to make a pretty display. Fig 1: Bring the needle out from A, go in through B and out through C, as shown. Points A and B are diagonal to each other, while B and C are at the same level. You can pin it together for this next piece or not but you’ll want to stitch along that perimeter, about 1/4″ from the edge, to keep things in place. Then measure down about 1″ from where you stitched and add another line of stitching. Knit with 4 strands of bulky yarn held together this is a fast stash-busting project. 18 cm/ 7″ diameter across the base. Designed by Bonny BonafillaOnce you’ve finished stitching, pull the printed fabric piece out of the canvas piece. This will show you your opening. Step Eight: Now we’re going to join the printed cotton piece with the canvas piece. Find the seam on each tube and match them up so that the right sides of each piece are facing each other. Pin together. Step Four: Pin the short ends of your printed canvas fabric to each other with right sides facing each other. Repeat this process with the short ends of your canvas fabric (which has no right sides).

Making your own Christmas hamper is not only a fun and creative craft activity, but it can also be a more cost-effective way of gifting during the holiday season. Whatever your level of crafting skill, if you enjoy making things, you’ll love putting together a festive hamper for the special people in your life.

If sewing isn't quite your thing, but you still like the idea of adding a fabric base, why not use a folded-up Christmas jumper or set of festive pyjamas! Step Three: Cut out one rectangle from your printed fabric and another from your canvas fabric that each measure 24″ x 54″.
