About this deal

The Seiko SNA411 runs on battery, which will require replacement after a few years (depends on how often you use the chronograph).

Beyond being relegated to “math time”, this watch has, in fact, become my shadow-side GADA. I wear it often, as much as I wear my typical GADA. I find that I do use the alarm, I use the chronograph (curse those screw-down pushers), and I unabashedly use the main indicator on the bezel in dive-bezel fashion. This watch has duly earned its few scratches, and I intend to wear it to smithereens. Within is just a cheap Japanese quartz movement, which is nothing fancy, but does provide accurate time. There is also a butterfly style deployant on the strap, to keep it in good condition for longer. Originally founded in Switzerland, Rotary watches are particularly popular in the United Kingdom; which is their primary market. One of their offerings, dubbed the ‘Chronospeed’, is clearly a homage to the Breitling Navitimer; featuring many of the same design cues. As mentioned, the watch has three subdials, two of which are used as the chronograph and one that works as an alarm (or an additional time zone). All in all, it’s a sporty-looking watch. With raised and recessed details split between a matte, brushed, and polished style, you’ll find yourself amazed by the intricacy of this watch more than once. Case and Strap At first look, the dial of the Seiko Flightmaster SNA411P1 feels very busy and cluttered. And yes, it is definitely a busy dial, but at the same time, everything serves a purpose. From the printing around the bezel to the chronograph counters and the printing on the dial. The steel bracelet is pretty easy to adjust. It is one of th ose push-pin style bracelets but I had zero issues adjusting the bracelet. You may need a special tool for the push pins to be able to get the pins out. You can always take the watch to your local watch repair place for help. A slide rule is an important tool for aviation because it allows for rapid calculations “off the cuff”. Fuel efficiency, unit conversions, and more are important to know when trying to determine, say, how far you can go with what you’ve got in the tank, especially when a mile up in the sky. Oh, and miles to kilometers? The slide rule does that easily. Pilot’s watches for the people

For people who prefer clean dials, it can feel a bit cluttered, but for those who love a seriously sporty watch, the busy dial adds to the personality of the SNA411P1. The sub-dials have the typical ringed engravings and the mineral crystal over the dial is also domed, which is nice to see. For those with slimmer wrists, this is one of the few options that will likely fit your wrist, rather than dominating it; as is the case with many other homage watches. It’s totally easy when you know the “rules” to do these calculations. One tips that I need to tell you is that the decimal place (how many 000s after the number) is not really clear from the dial unlike digital calculator. What is an aviation watch without a chronograph? An incomplete aviation watch. This Seiko FlightMaster watch has a chronograph to complement its duty as a fully functional tool and utility watch for a pilot.
