About this deal

Flushing: Most toilets come with a pump that lets you control how much water swishes around the bowl. Some push pumps can be very stiff. If you want easy, look for a button system like the Dometic 972 Portable Toilet. Comfort: Make sure the toilet is comfortable to you. The last thing you want is to sit on the throne and feel uncomfortable while taking care of business. The Porta Potti 335 Qube is a terrifically compact portable camping toilet, perfect for use when space is limited and as a result is an ideal sized porta potti for boats or camping trips. Featuring a strong waste tank carry handle, piston pump manual flush, integrated pour out spout and a comfortable seat, the small Porta Potti Qube 335 has all the same fantastic features from the Thetford Qube Portable Toilet range but is simply of a more accommodating build for small spaces. Includes hold down kit The other bonus feature is the level indicator on the holding tank. With the other toilets, it takes a little trial and error to know when it’s time to empty, but this simplifies that task. There is no need to go digging holes and the use of a portable toilet is no doubt cleaner and better for the environment than squatting behind a tree.

Features get even better if you choose the larger Porta Potti 565. You’ll have the option for an electric flush, fresh water gauge, and toilet paper holder. All of this combined with a full-sized toilet seat. Large Capacity Yes, the waste tank will be holding 30 litres of waste when full so it is heavy when its time to empty. You can empty more often to avoid this but in most cases I would describe it as heavy not unmanageable. No I not a gym goer just a regular sized slowly over wieght 40yr old man. Contrary to regular portable toilet models, this one from Thetford doesn’t come equipped with either a holding or a flush tank. That means you will need a pre-installed assembly of your camper van or RV (they usually feature them on board or have means to install them) that can fit the standard pipe sizes of this toilet. The smallest one is the Porta Potti 145 which measures (H x W x D) 330 x 383 x 427 mm. The largest (of this square, boxy shape) is the Porta Potti 365 which measures (H x W x D): 414 x 383 x 427 mm. I like this idea as long as it holds the pressure over time. I’m not sure about the longevity of this system. It could become a problem down the road as parts wear out or seals become less effective. This may render it useless if it stops holding pressure.

Conclusion

A portable toilet brings with it both pros and cons. They are great at bringing you the peace of mind that you can go easily at any time of the day or night, especially if you have children with you. Because Thetford Porta Potti toilets are compact, lightweight and easy to use, the Porta Potti is often used in caravans, motorhomes, boats, folding trailers and even in summer houses. But these mobile toilets also come in handy during renovations in the house or just as a second toilet. The Porta Potti is simple to transport and really can be placed anywhere. There isn’t much you can replace on these toilets other than the main seal and a few other small parts. Some portable toilets from other brands don’t even allow that. This means that once something goes wrong, you have to waste a large container of plastic. Tossing a big plastic box into the trash like this is hard to stomach if you are more environmentally conscious. A simple portable toilet usually consists of two tanks, a seat cover, and some additional parts like toilet paper holders and flush levers. While these toilets are fairly simple in maintenance, removing their lower holding tank can be a bit messy, unless it features a sturdy pour spout that can be sealed to avoid possible leaks. These units can be used as camping toilets, toilets for vans and camper vans, as well as simple home portable toilet models.

A very similar design and price point to the Thetford 365, the Dometic 976 Portable toilet is another option to consider as a camping toilet. This version of their toilet has an increased tank capacity to ensure it will last longer between being emptied and an adult-sized seat, even though the seat height itself is a little low. At 17 inches tall, Reliance is the same height as your traditional throne at home, so it definitely is a more comfortable sitting option than some of the others. This Porta Potti model is a bit smaller compared to other toilets included on our list. That said, it is still a good option to have, especially if you are planning a long trip away from civilization. The downside of this is that the seat itself is more narrow to allow for this larger opening. You won’t have the same surface area that you may be used to from the full-sized toilet in your home. However, you’d be hard-pressed to find a larger opening on a portable toilet in this size range. Made Using Strong, Flexible PlasticThe only thing that we didn’t appreciate much is the pour spout that can be a bit tough to turn at times. Hence, it is recommended to use protective gloves every time you want to empty the holding tank to avoid accidental leaks once you try opening the spout.

Thetford and Dometic are both well-known in the industry and offer products of different types. Their portable toilet offerings are similar in the way they work but do have some key features that may set one above the other depending on your specific needs. This may be a pro but could also be a con if you are looking for a larger-sized toilet. I put it in the pros column because it is small and is easy to store away when not in use. If you only need one of these toilets occasionally, having one small in size is a great way to ensure it doesn’t take up much-needed room. The Dometic uses a 360-degree pressure flush function that cleans the bowl more effectively with each flush, along with a carry handle for moving it around. Dometic claims to have a durable and tough design to ensure the toilet lasts you a long time. Setup is simple, with a hinged two-handle release option to separate the top from the bottom. Both the toilet and holding tank have a handle for a sturdy grip and easy moving. The Thetford Porta Potti range of has been the most popular range of camping toilets for years. They are also still the best designed and most reliable on the market today. The Porta Potti 165 and other models were all redesigned in 2012 These handles are sturdy and comfortable making the toilet easy to carry and dump. Smaller Than The Thetford

This is a first class product which comes with a free hold down kit. The materials used in construction are of a very high standard which makes not only the function of the toilet easy but looks pleasing to the eye ( if a loo can be pleasing to look at !) Much like the Thetford toilet from above, the Dometic 976 is a great option for those looking for a small toilet that has a good capacity. Many of the features are the same with slight differences. Pros Large Capacity Like Thetford, Dometic is another well-known brand, and this portable toilet for a campervan is a convenient option for touring. It’s simple to operate, thanks to the push button, while the tank level indicator will let you keep an eye on when it’s time to empty it. Thetford campervan portable toilet range

Yes, you can continue to return items as normal as long as you follow the government guidelines about leaving your house. This toilet is marketed with less pumping in mind. The idea is that you pump the toilet up and then push a button when ready to flush. The button will allow you to flush multiple times before needing to pump it up with more pressure. It’s similar to a garden sprayer in which you pump it up and then the pressure allows you to discharge water into the bowl as needed. Although it is a bit bulky at 12 pounds empty, it is still a great option for bigger families or longer trips where emptying is harder to do. In fact, my sister and her partner have been using this toilet in their van for the last two years. Bought this for camper van trips away and it has been a complete saviour. It has made a huge difference to where to stay and it is compact and easy to store out of the way. This is much better than some of the other ones I have tried, including the Dometic discussed below. This makes it fairly comfortable to sit on for an adult.
