It also explains what happened to her wings, and I feel so sorry for her, and I felt the same emotions toward Stefan as Maleficent did. I hated him too. But as all good stories have their bad moments, this book too has some.
The book itself is gorgeous, with illustrated chapter titles and decorative elements throughout the book that make it an aesthetically pleasing book to look at. (Or gift to someone who loves to read stories set in the world of Disney stories!) Maleficent maintains her composure after Ingrith tauntingly mentions the sleeping curse once placed on Aurora, and recalls King Stefan's death. She openly claims Maleficent killed two human fairy poachers last seen near the Moors. When Ingrith carelessly dismisses Maleficent's maternal bond with Aurora, Maleficent reacts angrily and seemingly curses John, who suddenly falls into a deep slumber. Maleficent proclaims she did not curse him, though Aurora disbelieves her. Phillip urges his mother to try and awaken the King with a kiss. Ingrith resists, and her weak attempt fails because she does not love John. As Maleficent flees the castle, Ingrith's servant, Gerda, shoots Maleficent with an iron bullet.She appears in Kingdom Hearts Union χ (2017) fulfilling the same role as in Birth by Sleep, as an image of the future events. After her defeat, she meets the Darkness, who tells her about her future.
