Because all of these vineyards are on steep slopes, the work with the vines has to be done by hand, and that guarantees a higher level of quality; but there are also some stringent rules and the wines must pass an official tasting test by a government-licensed committee. At just €7.99, this is a really fruit crisp Prosecco that goes gloriously with pizza when you’re hungover and being forced out for a second night in a row. Another bonus point is that it’s a screw top, and therefore you save yourself the dramatics of the big cork pop. A saviour. It’s got just the right amount of fizz, enough to keep you going without feeling flat or leaving you bloated. Grifon Prosecco Frizzante - €9 You’ll have to hurry if you want this one under a tenner, as it’s on sale in Supervalu at the moment but probably won’t be for long.
