About this deal

The number of ghosts supposedly spotted ranges from the sailor stomping around aboard HMS Gannet and the Spanish-looking man wandering around the exhibitions late at night. There are also rumours that one worker was filming the Commissioner's House and caught the ghost of a young girl looking out the window... On August 19 1971, another twist in the tale came when the Hull Daily Mail ran an article from the Home Office which stated they had launched a full and thorough investigation into the claims that prisoners and staff had reported anything ghostly at the prison. Our events are always 100% investigation and vigil events, we won't waste time by taking you on a history tour of the venue. One such ghost said to haunt the walls of the prison is Ethel Major, the last woman to be hanged at the prison on the December 19, 1934. She has reportedly been seen near the condemned cell. You can read more about how she killed her husband with corned beef here. As one story has it, an assistant at the shop once noticed an elderly gentleman at the far end of the counter, and asked the manager if she should serve him.

He didn't believe in ghosts or anything like that. He thought it was a load of nonsense," she added. "He sat there and just said 'I'm going, I've got to get out of here and he just ran to the door'. One former landlady awoke on several occasions to find him standing at the bottom of her bed, glaring at her. He has also been seen in a small room that adjoins the bar. Many customers have been supping their pints, when the bearded phantom suddenly enters and then vanishes right in front of them. The role 12 th Century Dover Castle has played in the history of the United Kingdom cannot be understated. Rumours of a phantom began in 1968, and usually involved a bride-to-be, thought have been killed in 1965, flagging down cars and asking for a lift. But of the numerous ships that have succumbed to the gluttonous appetite of these sinister Sands, one in particular, has ventured onto the hallowed plains of the haunted realm and sailed into popular mythology.

Interestingly, despite the fact that the ex-Archbishop's head was buried in a different place from his body, he does not appear as a headless ghost. A workman reported that the building he spent several years renovating was haunted by an unseen entity. The Inn was rebuilt in 1703 with a gallery overlooking the yard, into which stagecoaches and carriages would enter through an entrance twice as wide as it is today. As stated in Haunted Kent, it is believed young babies may have been used as sacrifices and placed in the foundations to protect the fort from evil spirits. Cries are said to haunt Reculver.
