About this deal

Sort your flower pieces. There are 3 large flowers comprised of 8 main pieces (with slightly pointer petals), and 5 center pieces (3 white, and 2 of a different color). Layer your flower pieces from largerest to smallest. Layer the center pieces together, with the colored piece in the middle, and attach it to the inside of your flower. Her directions are simple but also very clear and informative. The book is huge and well-photographed, so it’s easy to follow.

She also offers tips on how to prep flowers before arranging them (I had no idea this was even a thing…), and then she gives even more detailed instructions for creating front-facing arrangements, centerpieces, and hand-held bouquets. Attach the pop-up section to the interior of the book. Add your flowers, stems, and branches inside—all around the pop-up section.

The eerie illustrations show the state of the future environment which exposes the problems with society and the over-urbanisation of our planet. However, the book does depict a hopeful ending through the final image. This image could usefully be studied by pupils who could make inferences on how the story continues based upon the final illustration in the book. The book uses colour symbolism in which the city's dark hues could represent a possibly polluted future where people will not be familiar with natural life. The flower portrays a symbol of hope to Brigg who has the motivation to search for something better. The language use is simple but the choices of adjectives used throughout are interesting as have a significant impact on the meaning. Motifs also appear within the pictures and add a further element of interest when looking closer into the images as a collective whole. Grab the book cover and fold along the score lines. Attach the white, rectangular piece to the front. Next, glue on the four little triangular pieces—slightly off of each corner. Add any other embellishments or decorations you’d like your book to have. When Brigg discovers a book in the library labelled "Do Not Read", he cannot resist taking it home. It leads him to an unexpected discovery, which brings brightness and beauty to the inhabitants of a previously dull and dismal world.

The art reinforces the story, by showing the city as a dull grey place. Brigg is shown walking the other way to everyone else, or sitting apart from other children, highlighting how out-of-place he feels. His room is very plain, with few personal items. Once the flower appears, it's a point of colour and life in an otherwise dull environment. The flower in this story I think represents freedom. The illustrations are very bland without color and all of a sudden when the flower comes into play there is color and the flower is the only thing that remains color. The main character also becomes happier when seeing the flower. So I also think the flower represent happiness. I think that children can relate and catch these themes because of the color scheme.Use your cutting machine or X-ACTO knife, along with my template, to cut out all of the pop-up flower book pieces. My yard might not look so great this year due to the drought; but, here in my craft room, things are in full bloom! Whether you are an avid reader, a flower fanatic, or both, you are sure to love my pop-up flower book. There are a total of 12 daisies (6 white, 2 pink, 2 yellow, and 2 blue). To make a daisy, simply layer together to pieces of the same size, and attach the center piece.

Have you ever wondered how florists create such awe-inspiring floral arrangements that look like they’ve come straight out of a magazine? Well, now you can too! This inspirational and practical book will show you how to arrange flowers beautifully and create modern flower designs, whether it’s weddings, for the home and so much more! It focuses on a personal act of revolution, rather than trying to overthrow the system. Brigg can't change how the city runs, but he can try to grow a flower. The theme of finding a point of happiness when the world seems bleak will resonate with children going through tough times. Attach the smaller pieces to the larger one—where they will go over the top of the triangular sections that don’t have a crease through the middle. As a book-lover, this project is very close to my heart! I am really pleased with the overall look of both the book and the flowers within, and I hope you are too.

Then, take the two smaller, rectangular pop-up pieces and fold along those score lines as shown in the second photo below. The illustrations I didn’t connect well and also don’t think children will either. The characters don’t look happy from the beginning. The colors set a mood of sadness and depression. The main character lives alone and his room doesn’t look homey at all. He lives alone and look very young for his age to be living alone. I didn't even think about how much money I had left. I didn't even bother to read the synopsis (like I usually do). I just bought it. This might be one of those magical moments where you got chosen by the book itself.

How to Make It

The Flower Book explores 60 flowers, bloom-by-bloom in stunning portraiture. Lush macrophotography allows readers to see the details of each featured flower up close, from the amaryllis in spring, snapdragon in summer, and dahlia in fall to tropical wonders such as orchids and more. Fold along the score lines and attach the bottom/top sides to the left/right sides using the tabs provided.
