About this deal

Castle Capers: A minigame based on the Operation Wolf concept, Dizzy, armed with a crossbow, has to get a 5 hit advantage over the trolls, who are occupying the castle. However, if the trolls get the same advantage, Dizzy loses a life. Lives were present, too, and a minigame involving Theodore allowed the player to gather extra lives. Fans of Spectrum computers would recall that Codemasters' Dizzy series were some of the best games ever made for that computer. Broughton, Matt (February 1994). "Fantastic Dizzy". The One. The game is hard to qualify in a genre: while it seems at first a platform game, Dizzy is vulnerable to all enemies while unable to eliminate them, and puzzles are completed by bringing an object to a location (in the same fashion as Gods and adventure games), and also has to capture all 250 stars scattered in the game. The game can also be seen as a union of all the previous games where the player can find a lot of familiar puzzles (e.g. elevators, magic beans) and places (e.g. mines, deep sea) as well as several arcade minigames based on older games in the series (like Bubble Dizzy). are selected based on title similarity, game genre, and keywords. However, the list is generated automatically and can therefore be very 'subjective' A health bar was introduced, meaning enemies could deal damage without killing Dizzy outright, although many encounters were still one-hit kills. Fruit was strewn about the various areas which could restore parts of Dizzy's lost health, as well as providing points. The encyclopedia of game cheats. A die hard gamer would get pissed if they saw someone using cheats and walkthroughs in games, but you have to agree, sometimes little hint or the "God Mode" becomes necessary to beat a particularly hard part The game was planned to be released in time for Christmas in 1990, but because of a legal action between Codemasters and Nintendo over the Game Genie the title was released in April 1991, making it miss the Christmas rush it was originally slated for. It sold 125,000 units instead of the expected 500,000. [2] The game was awarded the "NES Adventure Game of the Year 1991" by Game Players Magazine and given the Parents Choice Award. [2] Almost all of puzzles are from the previous games. Despite not being able to save your progress, many Dizzy fans still see Fantastic Dizzy as one of the best adventure games in the series.

The game scrolls horizontally, but most areas do not scroll vertically. When Dizzy climbs a ladder or jumps to an off-screen platform, a new screen is loaded. As game play continues, the scenery cycles between night and day. In the game, the evil wizard Zaks cast an evil spell on the Yolkfolk, and kidnaps Dizzy's girlfriend Daisy, and it's up to Dizzy to undo Zaks' doings and rescue Daisy. They spent their days exploring the forest and mining diamonds to trade with the trolls in the neighbouring town of Keldor. I’m a newcomer to our hard-shelled hero’s games but many bods here played the NES and home computer affairs, so were familiar with the set-up and some of the puzzles.

In addition to fun adventure puzzles, Fantastic Dizzy also introduces a few arcade sub-games to the standard Dizzy formula, including an Operation Wolf-style shooting gallery and a tile-shuffling puzzle game where you can win extra lives, but these are mere icing on the cake. Anyone who thinks the YM2612 can't produce nothing but white noise should really hear the work of Matthew Simmonds in this game - from the Caribbean-sounding tune of Bubble Bobble and the organ sounds in the graveyard to the very suiting underwater theme, music plays a large part to get the player immersed into the game world, and in this case it is a success.
