About this deal

There were many times I was not able to relate with Lexi since she was trying very hard to seem like someone she's really not and as a person like me, I feel that it's something weird. I myself am not popular in school but I don't feel the need to change myself just to be accepted. I'd rather have few friends than having many who doesn't really know the real me. So this is just based from my own opinion since I never really did try to fit in so I can't really understand why the heroine felt that way. There are plenty of giggles in this narrative. I loved how forth-coming and honest Ella was about her experiences. There were many that I could relate to and I think this is what will make this very popular with readers. Ella is able to almost completely protect the secret of being her sister Emma (did I mention that they are identical twins?!) but I loved the jeopardy she finds herself in when growing attracted to a couple of members of the school community. Of course, Ella has to remind herself that she is happily-married Emma who would not want a relationship but, deep down, this is what the real Ella truly wants.

I finished this in an evening and found it well worth the time invested. It left me with a smile on my face, and will leave you with one too. So when Emma rings Ella saying she's in desperate need of her help, because she's going to have to go away for a while. I’m going to embarrass her so hard she’ll spend the next year in her room trying to work out how to change her identity,’ I reply. ‘Millie has been walking all over Emma for too long. I’m going to go in there and – maybe I’ll grab a drink? Maybe I’ll get up on a table and dance?’

However, I did really enjoy Lexi’s relationship with her best friend, Nolan, and his family. Even though Lexi has not had the easiest home life, I was glad that she has always had a safe and comfortable place she could run to. I especially liked that Nolan and Lexi’s relationship was strictly a friendship. I really like her relationship with Nolan's family, her father and Tyler and these people actually made the book worth reading because they gave a hope that people who care actually exists and they love her for who she is, her true self. This book totally wasn’t what I expected.I expected it to be a normal contemporary romance with some high-school drama, but what I got from it is a lot more than that.Faking Perfect depicts about finding your true-self and being happy with who you are. After reading the blurb everyone would’ve expected it to be sweet romance but there’s lots of emotional drama hidden in it.

Lexi feels like she should hold up the image of a 'perfect' girl, to put up a front and hide the fact that her mother is an irresponsible alcoholic and that her drug addict father abandoned them when she was just a little girl. She has the school bad boy sneaking in through her bedroom window at night, has friends who judge and shun her childhood friend Nolan (the only one who knows everything about her) and she harbours an unrequited love on her picture-perfect friend Ben.

Faking It is a hilarious romantic comedy about what really matters in life and a reminder that nobody is as perfect as they appear to be. With that said, I don’t have anything negative to say about Faking Perfect, except I did skim a paragraph here and there because it wasn’t anything worth reading.

I loved everything about this book, it was an entertaining and fast book to read and certainly up to Portia MacIntosh's normal standards if not even better! Just loads of fun and I can imagine it would be a very amusing film too! This is a great read, showing how life can be so different to that you expect when moving to live in someone else's place. The story is definitely a great romcom but that ending is so emotional! Ella trying to fit in with Emma's rich, gossiping friends, taking over organising tasks, dealing with strangers who assume she knows them, trying to cater for the children who assume she's their Mum . . . a fabulous fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed! The key to faking perfect skin — with or without other makeup — is finding the best foundation formula for your complexion and needs. But knowing where to start can be baffling, so we've made it easy for your with options based on your skin type ( oily, combination, dry, sensitive, mature, acne-prone); preferred form, including liquids, creams, and loose and pressed powders; coverage level from light and sheer to medium to full; and finish, from matte to satin to radiant. Her relationships with Ben, Tyler, and Nolan respectively were each distinct and had an interesting dynamic and revealed a lot about Lexi. Watching Lexi realize who was important and unimportant to her was fascinating, as was seeing her thoughts and opinions change, often following instead of preceding her actions. Okay, so yes I've this problem that the writer didn't actually give more description about the characters because yes that made it difficult for me to imagine about them.Last year I named "Faking it" as one of my most anticipated reads for 2021 and I sure got it right. It did not disappoint in the least. Such a perfect feel good story for this weird times. There are no words to explain what a total delight reading this book was for me. Between the laugh out loud moments of Ella’s mishaps, the enchanting new “friend” Marco, the capricious teenagers she is now “mothering,” and the “Yummy Mummy Mafia” (don’t even ask), this book has got it all. Through this journey of misadventures, watching Ella find her way and figure herself out just ends up being the icing on the cake. Such an entertaining and satisfying read, I guarantee you won’t be able to put it down once you start, and when you do, I’m certain those winter blues will be gone. Faking it" is a sweet story about families, the one you're born into and the one you make for yourself, and the importance of talking to each other when we have the chance, not holding onto silly grudges that the only thing they will achieve is to make us lose time and the possibility of creating beautiful moments with those around us. Well, I did not feel for any character and I could not connect with any one. I felt sorry for Lexi at times and the girl really has a bad life considering her family. But, I could not understand some of her decisions and...I just could not connect with her. Lexi craved illusion: the right image, the right clothes, the right boyfriend. Instead, she was sleeping with bad-boy Tyler on the sly, while hanging with the cool crowd out in the open. When she suddenly catches the attention of her secret "popular boy" crush, Ben, she thinks her life will now be perfect. But reality is the bitter pill which makes Lexi realize that all that glitters is not gold - that "Popular Boy Ben" is much less than a perfect catch, and that what she had with Tyler might be worth more than all the material things and popularity that she used to pine for.

Faking Perfect is about being yourself and the image you shows the world. The main character, Lexi, is a naive 17 years old girl who has low self-esteem and always feels in secure for most of her life. It was quite hard for me to like her. And she doesn't make it easy for me either with her fake personalities. That being said I think the title couldn't be more perfect for the story. The secret relationship mentioned with the school's bad boy left a lot to be desired, however. I was hoping for more palpable chemistry between Lexi and Tyler, but we never truly got to see their dynamics in depth, mostly because Faking Perfect did not focus on the romance, which was midly disappointing. Part of my reason for not fully being involved in the romance was also my inability to connect with Tyler as a character. We barely learn anything about Tyler's character aside from his bad boy attitude and that made me sad because he had the potential to be an amazing character from the glimpses that we did get of him in the book. I also didn't appreciate the storyline involving Lexi's crush, Ben. I thought it wound up being trite and I didn't particularly care for it. I do have to clarify that the book didn't have a true triangle and that there was no cheating going on, thankfully. The romantic relationship wasn't my favorite, but I did really like the friendship that Lexi had with Nolan, despite it being very frayed. Nolan's support and loyalty towards Lexi even though she basically hid him from the rest of her friends, was admirable and I loved him for it. While it does seem like a lot about Faking Perfect didn't work for me, I actually found myself enjoying the book because of Rebecca Phillips' writing which turned out to be very readable. The writing wasn't very beautiful or special it was just okay ( like the MC). ;). Occasionally, there was a description or bits of dialogue that were written surprisingly well. I cherished those moments =D The end tied up real nicely, which I definitely liked. I really hoped Lexi and her mom could come to some kind of middle ground and they would stop acting like two sides at war all the time. Overall, I really enjoyed the writing style done by Phillips and Faking Perfect was a great book about accepting who you are and not hiding it from the world. What do I say? ‘I’m Edward’s mum,’ I lie. ‘He forgot his anti-diarrhoea medication. I thought I’d better bring it.’ ‘You’re not my mum,’ he says angrily before turning to his lady friend. ‘She’s not my mum.’
