National Highways announced it will lift more than 700 miles of roadworks on England’s motorways and major A roads ahead of the coronation weekend. Transport for London’s roundel logo has been designed to celebrate the coronation (TfL/PA) The Stagecoach East Midland buses have been decorated in a special livery, featuring the official royal emblem, to commemorate King Charles III’s Coronation. The momentous event will be the first for 70 years, since Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Coronation in 1953. Route 78 will have a new timetable on all days of the week with minor changes to times. Route 78 will be operated by Go Ahead London from this date.

LMS 46220 ‘Coronation’ was the first of the class to be built streamlined and was outshopped with a casing in June 1937 from the LMS Crewe works. The casing was removed, and replacement smoke deflectors were fitted in November 1946, with the locomotive being withdrawn from service in April 1963, and then later scrapped. Locomotive 46220 had 5 different liveries over the years and this locomotive also held the then speed record of 114mph with the Driver TJ Clarke and the Engineer Robert Riddles on the footplate. Eleven miles of roadworks will be lifted on the M1 around Hemel Hempstead and Dunstable, and 12.5 miles on the M11 around Cambridge and Harlow.
