Bloodshed Academy is my first book by Jen L. Grey. The blurb is what attracted me, and even though it was an enjoyable read, I was a bit underwhelmed in the end. Therefore, he divided his army and brought a part over into the valley, and aconcealed them on the east, and on the south of the hill Riplah;

Then Goldin swallows any anxiety she may have had as pill bottles are rained down into surrounding reflecting pools. She and other protestors get down on the floor and play dead, their arms and legs slumped across smoothly polished stones. Poitras places her camera close to the ground, allowing viewers to take the perspective of the activists and get in on the action themselves. It was bracing stuff to witness, and it remains equally thrilling in Poitras’s hands. Honestly I enjoyed this. I was uneasy per se, it's 3AM, I was in bed and in the mood for reading something like....this. The mood was set and it was literally calling to me. And now the design of the Nephites was to support their lands, and their houses, and their awives, and their children, that they might preserve them from the hands of their enemies; and also that they might preserve their brights and their privileges, yea, and also their cliberty, that they might worship God according to their desires. Sometime i dnt even like Rage because he never expressed his love toward Raven. Olny charcter i loved is cole he is just a happy cookie.

Note: I received this book from the author and I voluntarily give this review, it is my honest opinion. In this, perhaps more than his other books and essays, Grant moves between big ideas in history – the Enlightenment, modernity and democracy – to consider himself, his identity, and his own lived experience of injustice, where race is an undeniable organising feature. What a great start for a new series. This story has shifters, vampires, fae and other supernatural creatures. They live among us and are inconspicuous. You would never know when you were talking to one.

In the final section of the book, Grant’s focus switches to the theme of “love”, and to friendships, family and Country. He speculates that his focus on these things is perhaps a mark of age. And he also knowing that it was the aonly desire of the Nephites to preserve their lands, and their bliberty, and their church, therefore he thought it no sin that he should defend them by cstratagem; therefore, he found by his spies which course the Lamanites were to take.
