About this deal

When it's time to reheat it, warm brie in the microwave for 1 minute OR bake in the oven again at 350 for 10 minutes. Step aside cheese boards, we've got a new kid in town! This warm and melty, sweet and savory, uber delicious baked brie with jam is SO good. And it's here to stay. Brie cheese. Use a wheel of brie. Any soft cheese with a rind will work. Camembert is also a good option. Pie Crust – Make sure you’re using a flat refrigerated sheet of pie crust. Not the frozen kind already in the tin. I use Pillsbury that can generally be found in the refrigerated section next to the biscuits. the crumpled paper helps stop the brie from oozing out all over the table. Melted brie just needs a little bit of coaxing to stop it from running everywhere!

Make sure to see the recipe card at the bottom of this post for the full quantities and ingredients list. Recipe Variations Pro tip: Mix the nuts and dried fruit with a bit of the jam (or honey) to coat them before baking. This prevents them from drying out in the oven.Using a sharp knife, make shallow slits in the pastry and then brush egg wash over the top; place on a baking sheet and bake until the puff pastry is golden brown. Don’t skip the the egg wash – Brushing the top of the crust with an egg wash is what gives it that delicious golden brown color. Without the egg wash, it will be much more pale. I love baked brie so much that I try not to make it very often — because there’s no stopping once I start!

Almonds- for that crunch! Honestly, the melty cheese with the crunchy almonds mixed with the sweetness of the jam is my favorite part. If you don't like almonds, you can use different nuts! Thyme- fresh thyme adds a nice minty earthy flavor to tone down the sweetness of the recipe and really give it balance. Baked Brie is best when it's baked as close to serving time as possible. It's not something you want to bake ahead of time and reheat because the pastry will get soggy. However, you can assemble the Brie as described in Steps 2 through 4 but leave off the maple syrup and brown sugar.Best Brie for Baked Brie –Use an economical brie or camembert! Expensive brie would be wasted on this recipe, in my opinion, though it does work just as well with top end as it does budget brie. Baked Brie is, quite simply, the best melted cheese in the world. When you cutthrough the rind andthe inside comes pouring out like lava, you’ll forget all your troubles. It’s like cheese-aholic heaven! I love to play with texture and flavor in my baked brie, and I often change things up. For my toppings this time, I used fig jam, shelled pistachios, walnuts, and sliced dry figs. Brie cheese hails from Seine-et-Marne, France, and is usually made with cow’s milk but goat’s milk is sometimes used as well. It is a soft, creamy cheese with an edible rind and a mild, somewhat fruity flavor. Then top it with roughly chopped pecans, pomegranate seeds and pour over maple syrup. And that’s it!

Save time making a cheese board and make this brie appetizer. Or do both - because cheese is delicious. Keep this around for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and especially New Year's in the lineup of easy holiday appetizers. You can also bring this to cookouts or gatherings. I can guarantee you, everyone will be asking you to make it over and over again as they scarf it down! You’ll need all the ingredients shown in the photograph below. How To Make Baked Brie With Step by Step Instructions Pro-Tip for Safe Handling: Always place the dish holding the brie on top of a sheet pan or baking sheet. This will help you easily remove the baked brie from the warm oven, and it will also catch any falling toppings/nuts or oozing cheese. To make a simple, sweet filling, you will need, raspberry jam or other fruit jam, brown sugar and ¼ cup (56.25 milliliters) maple syrup. [9] X Research source

Recommendations

Savory baked brie—For a savory topping, replace the jam with pesto, olive tapenade, caramelized onions, or bacon jam. Egg Wash – An egg wash, made with a mixture of egg and water, is brushed over the pie crust to help it get nice and golden in the oven.

The brie becomes very melted, so it’s best to buy a round of brie rather than a wedge of brie; a wedge would just ooze cheese everywhere. Baked Brie in Puff Pastry – Swap the pie crust out for puff pastry dough for an even lighter, fluffier, flakier option. Keep in mind that it may bake up differently than pie crust, so keep an eye on it so as not to overcook it. Pro-Tip: It's best to keep the brie rind (skin) on for this recipe, brie rind is perfectly edible and it holds everything well together. And you do not need an expensive brie wheel froma specialty cheese store. This recipe works just as well as what you'd buy from your local grocery store. Use a sharp knife to make slits in the brie and open up the slits and gently press the strawberry preserves on top. Sprinkle fresh thyme on top and add sliced almonds.

We cook and serve baked brie in its box; it becomes incredibly soft and the molten cheese will spill out onto the plate and can be difficult to transfer. If you didn’t want to serve it in the box, then we would recommend placing it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and then transferring the brie cheese on the parchment paper onto your serving plate. Brie rind is edible, and it actually adds nuance and complexity of flavor. In this baked brie recipe, I do not remove the rind because I need the surface to spread my jam and to add my beautiful nuts and toppings. Place the scored brie in a small cast iron skillet or oven-safe serving dish. Spread two-thirds of the jam over the brie, and dollop the remaining jam around the sides. Sprinkle the rosemary and pecans over top. If you have homemade cranberry sauce — like Red Wine Cranberry Sauce— on hand, go with that. Or make this as a way to use up your leftover cranberry sauce. Winning at leftovers by way of cheese is always a great idea. Ingredients for Cranberry Baked Brie Use an 8 ounce or 16 ounce wheel of cheese will work – With an 8-inch one, you’ll get complete coverage so you an be more decorative with the crust. If you use a large wheel of brie, the crust won’t cover the entire bottom, but that’s okay! You won’t see it cause it will be on the bottom.
