About this deal

Jessica Joyce wields razor-sharp prose with emotional poignancy and the perfect dose of unbelievable romantic tension with spice to create an instant classic in the romance genre. I’ll read anything she writes.” —Mazey Eddings, author of The Plus One I really loved writing Paul, Theo’s granddad. He serves as such a pillar of support for both Theo and Noelle throughout the book, and doles out so much wisdom about life and love and success and failure. In hindsight, some of the things Paul says to Theo and Noelle are things that I needed to hear myself, and he’s been such a resonant character for early readers! There’s one particular part where he says to Theo and Noelle (who are both going Through It), “take heart, you two. Nothing lasts forever.” And when Noelle asks if that’s a good or bad thing, he says, “both.” I think about that moment a lot and apply it to my own life—it’s a reminder to revel in the good moments and to find relief amidst the bad moments, because both will pass you by. I’m a visual creature. I’m not sure how much shirtless stimulation I can take before I break in some way. That would be catastrophic. […] The romance. I think some people might like it if you're looking for not too deeply developed connection between two main characters. The connection and tension was mostly based on the fact that they were h*rny for each other. They knew each other in high school, where they were rivals or something, but almost all of their interactions involved them flirting. Not some deep, meaningful conversation that would make them feel some kind of connection and then catch feelings. Later, when they finally kissed, almost all the scenes with them involved them trying to sleep together. Plus the third-act breakup at the end. The worst thing that can happen in a romance book. Jessica Joyce is a new and forever fave!” — Ali Hazelwood, New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically

I cannot believe this was Jessica Joyce's debut novel! The writing felt so good, so familiar, and I just couldn't put it down. This isn't out until July, but I already need her next one, after reading a preview at the end of this one😭😂 Because I have a new auto buy author. That’s how serious I am 🥹 This woman could write books in morse code and I’d read it. Not so long ago I was banging on about how there’s an author out there, writing a banger, writing FOR ME and I have no idea she exists. I was considering scary methods to find her and HERE WE ARE SO I STG I MANIFESTED THIS 🤣🤣🤣

About this book

I am such a fan of High School rivals turned love interests and this book delivered. I did find myself wanting a bit more of them in the past to truly understand how they came so full circle like they did, but I still found this to be a great summer romance read, nonetheless. It didn’t make me as fundamentally sad as Mrs. Nash’s Ashes, but they felt similar-ish. If you’re in your emotional road trip era, they both hit the mark! I also said it in my Mrs. Nash’s Ashes review, but again, the Letters to Juliet vibes were immaculate here as well. The plot setup isn’t even my favorite because I really don’t like people being dead as a major plot point, but the way the story was told was just so good. Again, nothing singularly has me obsessed with the book…it’s just everything…how the story was told, the characters, the vibes…obsessed. Wow it’s been a long 3 months but then YWAV comes along reminding me EXACTLY what a 5⭐️ read should look like.

When Noelle learns that her grandmother had planned to marry Paul and they already had their honeymoon sketched, she decides she should do the trip her grandmother never got a chance to do. Paul asks to join her and Theo won't let Paul go alone so of course he decides to come too. Two high school enemies must reunite for a road trip inspired by their grandparents’ broken engagement in this electric debut romance.**Jessica Joyce wields razor-sharp prose with emotional poignancy and the perfect dose of unbelievable romantic tension with spice to create an instant classic in the romance genre. I'll read anything she writes." - Mazey Eddings Were you planning on dry humping me in other places? Just curious.” His teeth flash, almost predatory.

You, with a View was essentially a romance, with sexy tension and longing (plus a few open door scenes). But it was also about grief and healing, family, found family and making mistakes in your twenties. It was both wholesome and heartwarming. Gosh I adored the grandparents in this, which made me miss my grandpa, who has been gone for over 20 years (hug yours if you still have them!) Matchmaking Paul was a favourite 😍 This book is also a big f**k you to those negative bosses/mentors who get inside your head and make you feel worthless for years. Down with them! I know I had one. Also down with family, if they make you feel like you're never enough! the loss of a loved relative and the following grief was handled with love and care. I really liked the road trip as a way to honour and remember her grandmother while also trying to work through the grief The way that she writes slots into my head like Tetris, every sentence flows, the characters are undeniably fleshed out, with the story being the icing on the cake ❤️ i honestly don’t know how i feel about this book, i know for a fact that I loved it but it has it’s pros and cons! One that made me want to become an author: this is tough! I’m going to say Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares. I always considered myself a writer, but reading this series during such a formative period of my life and being transported by the themes of friendship and love woven so beautifully into the series made me wish that someday people would be transported by something I wrote. I wondered for the four hundredth time why the hell I can't figure out how to adult successfully.” hard same

The writing reads and flows so easily and I found myself speeding through this even though I really wanted to savour it and make it last as long as I could. An idea for a story. I really enjoyed it and I was invested more in the story about their grandparents than in the romance. In the first half of the book, I even thought I would give it a strong 4 stars rating, but of course that didn't happen because the rest of the book completely changed my mind about it. This is an amazing debut, and I'm so happy to have been introduced to another brilliant author, Jessica Joyce. I am looking forward to reading her next book! I hope you know how impossible this question is for me, an egregious overwriter. I’ll say: healing, affirming, sexy, banter-filled, thighs (it’ll make sense when you read it). What she didn’t expect was that Paul would also insist on going with her, and, if Paul’s going, Theo’s going too.
