About this deal

I also adored the budding friendship between Jenny and Sori. It was a very supportive and understanding friendship which was not easy and definitely flawed.

A handwritten letter to falling in love and opening yourself up to the world. A delicious treat!” — Aminah Mae Safi, author of Tell Me How You Really Feel Since there’s so much content and ~iconic scenes~ for the plot to cover, a lot of the writing feels more “tell” than “show.” We gloss over important events, and scenes begin to blend together. Truthfully, it was often an information overload because one important event would happen right after another without any time for rest.Jenny’s never had much time for boys, K-pop, or really anything besides her dream of being a professional cellist. But when she finds herself falling for a K-pop idol, she has to decide whether their love is worth the risk. A modern forbidden romance wrapped in the glamorous and exclusive world of K-pop, XOXO is perfect for fans of Jenny Han and Maurene Goo. With Jaewoo an ocean away, there’s no use in dreaming of what could have been. But when Jenny and her mother move to Seoul to take care of her ailing grandmother, who does she meet at the elite arts academy she’s just been accepted to? Jaewoo. Korean Culture: WHOPPING 4/10 SO DISSAPOINTED IN YOU LADY, HAVE YOU EVER EVEN BEEN TO KOREA?? You all... it took me a while to get over the beginning, where she walks in on 3 aunts watching a K-drama, right at the kiss scene, two of them *collapse into sighs* and one of them *throws their sandals at the tv*. I'm sorry, is this your idea of how Korean culture is? We watch tv shows like NORMAL human beings! It felt like every time she was trying to write in the culture, she would grossly overexaggerate like a 12-year-old sitting in Texas writing a BTS fanfiction and trying to be "culturally authentic." If you’re BTS ARMY and didn’t immediately think of Jungkook when you read this description of Jaewoo then I really dunno. *lol* It was my first thought and from then on out I always pictured JK when I read about him. Don’t judge me, I needed to live vicariously through Jenny’s POV. ;-P I mean which k-pop fan doesn’t dream of meeting their idol and actually being together with them? XD Okay, so this out of the way we can finally talk about the actual book.

When a relationship means not only jeopardizing her place at her dream music school but also endangering everything Jaewoo’s worked for, Jenny has to decide once and for all just how much she’s willing to risk for love. XOXO is a new romance that proves chasing your dreams doesn’t have to mean sacrificing your heart, from acclaimed author Axie Oh. Jenny and Jaewoo are adorable! The romance between these two talented musicians began in Los Angeles at Jenny's Uncle's Karaoke bar. Their first encounter is fun and carefree and Jenny is completely unaware that Jaewoo is part of a famous K-Pop group. Away from pressure and fame, Jaewoo indeed enjoyed that night but he needs to return to Korea. You have a schedule too. We need to practice or we won’t be ready for the showcase. I thought you said you needed something unique to stand out in your portfolio. Are you really going to blow your chances of a future, a long-term one, for a guy who can never, I mean never, put you first?”I love the forbidden nature of their relationship because he’s not allowed to date because his life is so public Even worse, the characters are so poorly drawn. I know nothing about the main character, Jenny, really. I know she's apparently a good enough cellist to be attending college for it, despite the fact that she doesn't seem to practice nearly enough. I know that she has a mother and a grandmother. I know that she likes an even less interesting character named Jaewoo. And that's about it. Explicit: 5/10 It doesn't really DESCRIBE exactly what happens but basically they do describe taking off each other's clothes in a FREAKING KARAOKE BAR (How unromantic is that? It's worse than under-the-table-at-a-party) and being there for a whole half hour doing... something. The Korean aspect of this was SOOO inaccurate I'll explain why below:
