The 1969 NAIA Rookie Coach of the Year and a five-time conference Mertz Mortorelli Coach of the Year, Myers ranks as the WIAC's all-time leader in dual wins with a 301-136-7 career record (.686 winning percentage). He was selected as the coach of the WIAC's All-Time Wrestling Team, which was announced in conjunction with the league's Centennial Celebration in 2011-12. Highly respected in the wrestling community and among his peers, Myers served as President of the NAIA Wrestling Coaches Association from 1978-80 and as President of the NCAA Division III Wrestling Coaches Association from 1985-87 and 1989-91, and held numerous other committee positions. He was part of a multi-division committee that studied weight management among college wrestlers.

At the farm, Willie kept asking Johandri to try and shoot a target 100 metres away, and eventually, she agreed. Willie Myers, age 81, died peacefully in his home on January 12, 2021. Willie was known for his kindness and generosity to anyone who crossed his path. His faith in Jesus Christ was his guide throughout life. Willie had a tremendous impact on his family, friends and community that will last long after his passing.
Myers's debut album, Growing, Pains, was released in the United States on 18 November 1997. It achieved gold status, thanks in large part to the success of its first single. Willie is survived by his son Lamon Myers, his mother Annie Dugas, Deborah Brown, Vernell Myers with grandchildren all of Monahans, Texas, Mychal Myers, Quoeisha Myers, Allie Myers and Arylssa Myers of Carlsbad, New Mexico with great grandchildren Josiah J. Bravo and Jonah C Bravo, step children Ebony Brown and Cecil Brown, 4 grandchildren: Taj, Jenesis and Tianna and Denzeal Rodriguez, with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives in Midland, Texas along with an unnumbered amount of friends and honorary organizations. Dr. Willie Myers, a wrestling coach, instructor and athletics administrator at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for 36 years, passed away Tuesday at the age of 81.
