Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace is one of the best white paint colors out there! I share why I love it and how it compares to other popular whites! While Chantilly Lace has a touch of blue, Simply White a touch of yellow. It’s just enough yellow to give it a warm feel but not so much that it looks too creamy. With that touch of warmth, even large rooms painted in Simply White don’t have a sterile feel like many fear their room will have with a brighter white. Comparing Chantilly Lace to Simply White, they are similar in that they are both in the lighter range of white paint colors and they both have a crisp, clean look. The main difference is that Simply White is a warmer color than Chantilly Lace due to the touch of yellow.
This paint also contains an anti-bacterial agent that helps to prevent the growth of bacteria on your walls, creating a more hygienic environment for your family. Last, Chantilly Lace can work on walls, but often, a white with a bit more color may work better. When you look at Chantilly Lace in comparison to other popular whites, you will see that it does not look yellow, it does not look gray and it does not look beige. Chantilly Lace is a very clean white paint color. As a color, it is bright, crisp and pure looking. For the trim in our bathroom, I used Benjamin Moore Advance in Satin (semi-gloss is also a great choice for trim – it’s just personal preference depending on how much sheen you like). Sometimes people get a little confused when researching Chantilly Lace because it has two numbers from Benjamin Moore.
Before we get into the actual color, let me say that I am discussing Sherwin Williams’ Pure White paint color, NOT Benjamin Moore’s Pure White paint color. They both have a “Pure White” but Sherwin William’s Pure White is much more popular than Benjamin Moore’s (and is also a better comparison for Chantilly Lace). I love Pure White on trim, cabinets and exteriors, and also find that it does well on walls when you want a stark white look that doesn’t lean blue at all. Chantilly Lace is both OC-65 and 2121-70. This is because Benjamin Moore includes Chantilly Lace in both their Color Preview Collection, and their Off-White Collection. So why didn’t I use Simply White in our bathroom? Actually that was my plan! But when I painted a large test sample in my bathroom, the yellow undertone of it was much more obvious than in any other room I’ve painted with Simply White. Why? Because it was up against the more cool toned blues of our marble tile, tub, and toilet.Benjamin Moore describes Chantilly Lace as “as delicate and refined as the lace it was named after, this crisp, clean white evokes images of pure silk, soft linen and simpler times.” While totally corny, it’s actually a pretty spot-on description! Here’s another view of it on the other side of our bathroom – as is typical with any paint color it looks a little different depending on how much light it gets: Chantilly Lace is at its best when it is on trim and cabinets. Its clean white look gives them a bright appearance that doesn’t look too terribly stark (because Chantilly leans slightly warm).
