About this deal

This book is a pleasant surprise! I didn’t expect to love it so much but it’s definitely an addition to my fave romance books. I truly enjoyed the book, it was good enough, but I definitely wanted more from it because I know there could be more of it. I walked to the stove and peered into pots and pans, my nostrils greedily inhaling many wonderful scents. Momma pulled down plates and cups from the cabinets and set the table. We didn’t usually eat at the table, which should’ve been my first clue. It's a great one-time read, I'm sure it'll be interesting for most of you who don't know what's it like to be in an Indian girl's shoes ..we are strong in a unique way!

Thank you so much to Forever at Grand Central Publishing for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review! This book was a reminiscent of a young adult story where there is tons of bantering and excessive chaos. At one point, it was a bit much for me and I had to take a break. Sam says he has his contract and she gotta leave the place. Layla says he should show some respect! Her father is in coma at the hospital, she has nowhere else to go and family comes first. What stopped me from giving this a full 5-star rating is because I didn’t like how shit went down nearing the end. Sam obviously had too much guilt to work through to the point that it served as motivation to do unjust things. I didn’t like how he handled some stuff and I feel hurt on Layla’s behalf. The good thing is that he did his best to fix things, not just with Layla but also with her family and his best friend, John Lee.I think my favorite aspect about this book is the demonstration of intergenerational conflict between Preeti and her friends and their parents & relatives within the desi community. Sajni Patel does a really good job in her books of highlighting the issues that older generations in the desi community bring and inflict on their children. I loved how one of the themes of this book and the series overall is how Preeti and her friends vow to make a positive difference as the younger generations of the desi community and ensure that no one ever is mistreated in any way in generations to come. I think that this reflects a lot of the sentiments and mentalities that many young Indian-Americans have as well. I loved the scenes in which Preeti stood up to her fois, her parents, and Yuvan whenever they said anything offensive--I feel like it gives a lot of courage to other Indian-Americans who didn’t have that courage when they were younger. It was also super refreshing to see Preeti’s parents be so supportive of her relationship with Daniel, especially after reading about Liya’s dad in The Trouble With Hating You. Our love interest keeps having sexual and inappropriate thoughts towards our main character, Layla, after seconds of meeting her! The book certainly brought all the feels, and elements of all characters. Throughout the novel, the story is smooth and generally moves along well. At the end of the day if you are looking for something that you have read similar to this before and don’t mind another, then this will satisfy you. If you are looking for something more than just an average read, that you will want to engage with, then this is also something you will enjoy. Need Help?

Again this is me speaking from my own experience BUT I am still to experience this situation: a guy who LEERS at a girl AND the girl thinks its SEXY We knew you were coming. What were you going to interrupt, huh?” She smiled that genuine, heartfelt smile of hers, the one that made my heart ache because it had become a rare sight over the years. With witty banter and fascinating characters, Sajni Patel takes the classic enemies to lovers trope to a deliciously charming level. I loved everything about this book.” - Farrah Rochon,USA Todaybestselling author So while she sprinted to make a grand meal—and made sure it was just the right temperature by the time he ate—Dad sat there with nothing else to do except read a paper that wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
