Two squads of Phase I Clone Troops enter the fight to preserve the Republic. Five carry the DC-15A blaster rifle while two heavy weapons specialists add extra firepower with a Z-6 rotary blaster cannon and a DC-15 blaster rifle modified to fire from long range.

Skirmish can best be described as the diet version of the game as it is a great place to learn the mechanics of the game from activation control, how to best utilize certain units. It is very beginner friendly and there are a set of deployment, mission, and condition cards that are balanced around the smaller point total and table. The nice thing about these battle cards is that they are very similar to their standard format counterparts so you can figure out which cards would be best for when you get a chance at larger games. “Do or do not, there is no try.” In addition to these units, players will also find a complete set of basic command cards, reprints of Darth Vader's three command cards from the Star Wars: Legion Core Set, and three new command cards representing the tactics used by the Imperial forces on Hoth for use exclusively by Blizzard Force. Rounding out this set are 26 reprinted upgrade cards that give aspiring Imperial commanders everything they need to outfit their Battle Force and crush all those that stand in their way.

Star Wars Legion really comes into its own with two Core Sets, and the expansions. Two Core Sets gives you enough movement and range tools for both players, and more than enough dice than you should ever need. With two Cores and one each of the unit expansions, you can field a full 800 point army. Star Wars Legion is played over six rounds – and each round is further broken down into three phases; the Command Phase, followed by an Activation Phase, and finally the End Phase. During the Command Phase, each player secretly selects one of their seven command cards that they have brought to the battle, and places it face down on the battlefield.

The opponent then rolls dice equal to the amount of damage they take, unless they have an ability that lets them alter the number of dice rolled, to reduce damage taken. After battle, face down tokens are placed one by one to determine which troops you are to use. We play to defeat all of your opponent’s troops, however there are other missions you can do in the core box.
