About this deal

United Souls, in conjunction with Legacy Recordings, is delighted to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Philadelphia International Records with Love Is The Message - The Sound of Philadelphia International Records Volume 3. Meanwhile, you have to have a HEART to cook "SOUL" FOOD...because a RIGHT HEART wouldnt ALLOW you to sell ppl some MESS that you just SLAPPED together. That's the SOUL part. Recorded - 6 February 1971 Live at The Desert Inn [[Renamed “Finally” but still unreleased at the time) I have long felt that Ian Levine had, and still retains an astonishing breadth of vision...and which is probably underrated. But also, in some respects, what made him unique, extremely focused and hardworking, could also work against him.

By Autumn 1964, the new "Motown Sound" was on fire as one hit after another simultaneously burned its way up the charts while boasting a HOT new style! Mary Wells' "My Guy", The Supremes' "Where Did Our Love Go", "Baby Love", and "Come See About Me," Martha & The Vandellas' "Dancing In The Street", Four Tops' "Baby I Need Your Loving" and "Without The One You Love", and The Marvelettes' "Too Many Fish In The Sea" paved the way for an exciting new phenomenon that would soon set new standards for Pop & Soul music globally! With food set up buffet style behind steamy glass, Motor City Soul Food is a Detroit favorite. The Seven Mile location is the original and some say the best tasting. The macaroni and cheese here is some of the best in the city. Try the baked turkey breast and candied yams too. Me & My Girls Soul Food In producing the Motorcity project, Ian Levine, in arranging for all the artists to be heard once again, was then dependent on people who were particularly talented in the artistic field. I always loved Sammy Davis Jr.'s 'Hello Detroit' by Berry Gordy and Willie Hutch. A deserved love song for Detroit in the form of old school big band orchestra.I don't remember how I got there, as I was only 14 and not driving yet, but I somehow managed to wangle a ride from my parents to Cass record store in Geneva, NY, to buy that record. The coolest part of that trip was discovering that I was right! My new must-have record was on the Tamla label -- indeed, the Motown Sound! After that, it became increasingly easy to recognize Motown's releases -- even when the artist was new and vocally unfamiliar.

Yes, I know this hangs on the edges of the Motown universe, but I figured that for anyone who likes The Four Seasons and Frankie Valli AND liked and wanted more of their Motown material [which is here--released and unreleased], it would be helpful to know about this massive, detailed set that is coming in September 2022!

A member of staff poured water but did not greet us. I was surprised that the woman who filled our water glasses and left without a word turned up 10 minutes later and introduced herself as our server. We had questions about the menu/drinks but had nobody to ask. All the music has been remastered from the original master tapes courtesy of Sony Music and Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff who have been personally involved in these landmark anniversary collections. This restaurant is also a nightspot with events several times a week. Nested in the heart Detroit’s eastside, Southern Fire Bistro and Lounge has become staple for upscale dining and parties and has a strict dress code which they describe as "no effort, no entry." Southern Fire Bistro and Lounge recently completed a fresh overhaul. The redesign features ambient lighting, lovely padded seats, and updated modern décor to set the mood for any intimate dinner or party. Flood's Bar & Grille

Much of their Motown work is excellent and I always love listening especially to my favourites on a regular basis. And did someone mention "The Night"? Only if a superfan decides to undertake the project. And of course I'm referring to those superfans who would be willing to document the history without bias toward any one Supreme. The only thing that makes me sad is that as Motown/Universal has all but stopped their reissue program [whatever happened to The Supremes Expanded Edition series after "Sing HDH"...?], something like this gets green-lighted by another company and will hopefully sell very well. Does anyone know why the world "Golden" was removed from the name San Remo Golden Strings on UK Tamla-Motown releases? The first thing I noticed with those Marble Arch releases was that it was the San Remo Strings and not the San Remo Golden Strings, but it looks like all or at least most the UK releases of the Detroit San Remo Golden Strings material changes the name.Mary was always a sentimentalist, but even she was always being interviewed about the same ole stuff. It was the same questions over and over again. Every now and then, some interviewer would ask something surprising and Mary would get to go into detail about something we had never heard before. Those moments are so special to me, especially now that Mary is gone. My wife and stopped by here on a cool, cloudy evening after visiting the Ford Museum. We were both very hungry. After having our GPS take us to this location we parked on the street and went inside. Our first impression involved the building itself, which was very beautiful and was built in the Art Deco manner. We found out later that the building itself was over 100 years old. Very impressive.

Unfortunately, there does not appear to be much scholarly interest in the story of the Supremes, which is obviously not the case for the Beatles or Elvis, both of which not only have tons of books devoted to their history, but also documentaries. Race and gender are factors, as is music snobbery, where singer/songwriters are viewed more favorably than interpreters of song. And then there's the petty infighting and feuding, which honestly got more headlines in the 80s thru the present rather than their timeless music. All members who register for membership in the SoulfulDetroit Forums are required to agree to obey the following Rules and Conditions. By March 1965, in addition to the above titles, I had managed to add Martha & The Vandellas' "Wild One" 45 and The Temptations' "Sing Smokey" album to my burgeoning Motown record collection. By now, I had come to recognize the various elements of Motown's style. I was soon put to the test! The building is beautiful, the decor attractive, the staff is awesome and the food is the best soul food I have ever had.I have never felt the full potential of this song has been realised in this production. It comes over as a bland, so-so song, and which takes too long to reach the chorus. The lyrics are uneven on some lines, and don't smoothly fit the music. A higher key would help get the message across, and I'm not entirely sure it is a most suitable song for Gladys's voice. More percussion needed, also echo.]
