About this deal

While Julia waits for another train to come to the small town she tries to make herself useful to Luc's aunt. Julie does a wonderful job organizing the woman's kitchen, and so, with her confidence buoyed she offers to help Luc in his gardening shed. She's helpful until Luc leaves her alone to tend to something and her reorganization messed everything up and costs him precious time in getting his seedlings ready. Julia makes another costly mistake while trying to be helpful and it forces her and Luc to go on a trip where they begin to see each other in a different light. First Class Murder (2015) by Robin Stevens from the Murder Most Unladylike series is set on the Orient Express.

Freya made so many friends, and I loved seeing the other characters. Friendships are always so awesome to read about, and I adored the people Freya hung out with. The side characters and side stories were awesome. a b Zax, David (1 March 2007). "A Brief History of the Orient Express". Smithsonian . Retrieved 13 March 2013. Since 13 December 2021, an ÖBB Nightjet again runs three times per week on the Paris-Vienna route, although not branded as Orient Express. [8] The Venice-Simplon Orient Express train, a private venture by Belmond [9] using original CIWL carriages from the 1920s and 1930s, continues to run to and from various destinations in Europe, including the original route from Paris to Istanbul. This is marketed as an adult novel and as a teenage girl I was slightly worried about whether some characters would be too-old for me and therefore hard for me to connect to, but that wasn't a problem. The five main romances spanned many generations, from a young couple in their 20s meeting onboard the train to an older woman reminiscing about a man she loved when she was younger. There were even some teenage characters included so I had no problem connecting at all. What I really liked about this novel was that everyone was different - no two couples acted the same way and I really appreciated that. Overall, it was a good ensemble. Orient-Express: attention au départ!". Orient Express (in French). Archived from the original on 10 January 2014. The other passengers on the train also form an integral part of the story. We have the wealthy businesswoman Mrs. Van Der Luyden, played by the legendary actress Wendy Hiller, who is traveling with her devoted assistant. We also have the enigmatic Colonel Arbuthnot, played wonderfully by veteran actor John Gielgud, who starts to become intimately involved in the lives of the other passengers. The ending...oh my heart. I loved it so much! Honestly, if you love feeling like you are completely immersed in a story and setting, this book was that kind of book for me. I have loved Jennifer Moore's books since her first book was published. I have been hooked ever since and love them so much! So I might be a little biased because she is a favorite author, but even then, this book just reaffirmed to me why I love her books so much!

One of the criminal mysteries solved by Randall Garrett's Alternative History detective Lord Darcy takes place on a luxurious cross-Europe train manifestly modeled on the Orient Express, though in this Alterative History setting its final destination is Naples rather than Istanbul. I suppose the thing that irritates me, as it did with the last book, is that Veronica Henry seems to be obsessed with label, and material things. All of her characters are wealthy, upper class people (with the exception of just one) and seem to be able to throw money at everything. Staying on in Venice for a few more days, on a whim, is no problem.

Even though the huge surprise at the end is figured out very early, I loved the journey getting to the end of the book. It was beautiful, mysterious, heartfelt, and so satisfying to "Be There" as Freya and Erich grew to know and care about each other. The words written in this story are like strands of musical notes themselves, when Erich says to Freya, "Playing with you, hearing your music, watching your heart shine out your eyes. I know all I could ever need to know to convince me I want you always in my life." now that is truly sigh-worthy. Lambert, Anthony (21 January 2013). "The Orient-Express: Great Train Journeys".
