About this deal

While it is reassuring that all 5 manufacturers believe that this is the best design for a water changer, it made life considerably more difficult when it came to ranking them from best to worst. I have recently set up a new 200L tank, and i have used the python to fill the tank up for the first time. However, I am now at a stage whereby i will need to conduct my first water change.

Unfortunately, that’s where the praise ends. Out of all the water changers we tested, this was our least favorite… Be aware & always in the room when removing water from the aquarium with Python. Fish can be badly injured in the gravel tube from the force of its suction. Once one of my goldfish lost both eyes! Ever since then, as a precaution I created a bent wire thingy to prevent another accident. The Python utilizes a siphoning effect to remove dirty tank water and debris from the substrate while fresh water flows in. Control the suction as needed with the on/off switch. The Python Water Changer also helps to reduce the amount of water waste that is produced during water changes. By using the Python Water Changer, you can easily control the amount of water that is being exchanged, ensuring that only the necessary amount of water is being used. This helps to reduce the amount of water that is wasted, which is beneficial for both the environment and your wallet. How to Use Python Water ChangerAvailability of replacement parts– Are replacement parts available? You don’t want to buy an entirely new water changer just because a small piece broke.

Siphon Pump: If you ever had a waterbed as a kid, you recognize this device. It has a female connection at top that you attach to your faucet adaptor. The valve is at the bottom to switch from siphon to fill mode. Out the side is a standard male garden hose thread. Again, Python sells their pump separately , or you can search for a ‘ Waterbed Mattress Fill & Drain Kit “. It looks like the waterbed fill kit comes with a plastic adaptor so you can make do with that and save some cash.I may have to add a some extra length to the bottom to make the siphon function but, frankly, as it is, I can’t always get the Aqueon to siphon, given the lousy water pressure here, so, not really a deal breaker if it won’t siphon very well. I should be able to drain the upper tanks with it anyway, just drop the tap end to floor level and let it run naturally. Imagine a gravel vacuum that connects to your faucet. That’s essentially what the Python water changer is. But when it came to aquarium water changers, there were only a handful on the market. So, we decided to test all of them! way tap outlet(with flow levers) (if you want to also run your washing machine off the same tap like i did) Less stressfor the owner and the fish as the No Spill system is extremely easy to use which makes regular water changes less hassle and more enjoyable.

Most of these parts are not really a build but just assembly, with exception to the fill device that goes in the aquarium. Let’s start with that. However, the decision to go with an oval-shaped tube was its undoing – the oval-shaped opening made vacuuming gravel substrate more difficult. All water changers included a single fitting that connected the water changer to the faucet, like the ones pictured above. They might all look different, but they are the same-sized fitting. Very easily… as water passes through the faucet pump it creates the siphon and starts to pull water from the tank out to your sink. You can then change the water direction by adjusting the bottom of the faucet pump. A simple pull and turn will instantly change the water direction. What We Liked About The Python Water Change System

Is The Python Water Change System Right for You?

I built two different tank devices. The first was simply a ‘wand’ that is comprised of the hose adaptor, some PVC pipe and one 45º fitting. I use this hand held to spot remove detris from specific places in the tank. Most of the time, this is the fill device I use. I decided to use 1/2″ pipe as it seems this will be plenty of flow for our little aquarium and should work fine even on a larger tank. See the picture for the components I used and how they go together. Just cut pipe sections that are appropriate and test fit.

Still, there is no denying that you can get by without an aquarium water changer – it’s just going to take you longer to perform your weekly water change. You can use the assembly for a while before you glue it together; the press-fit is usually plenty strong to hold together and won’t leak. Honestly, I have been using this for almost a year and I still haven’t glued it together.Last week while doing a water change on the Cichlid tank the safety ????thingy did its job perfectly. A large convict cichlid somehow got in the gravel tube but didn’t get near the dangerous end. No tragic accident occurred! Whew!
