About this deal

The Land Camera 1000 is an instant camera manufactured by Polaroid Corporation. In the United States, it was marketed as the OneStep. Based on the Polaroid SX-70, the camera includes a one element 103mm f/14.6 plastic lens, fixed focus and an exposure compensation dial knob. It uses the SX-70 time zero film. There is a flash specifically made for this model: the Q-light flash. They had two unique shutter colors: red and green. [1] History [ edit ]

It takes a little trial and error to find the sweet spot for your camera. And as I mentioned, sometimes the film is just not 100%. Polaroid I-2 review: The best instant camera doesn't come cheap". Polaroid Now (2020) – automatically selects between two fixed-focus lenses: standard (102.35 mm) and portrait (95 mm); dedicated double exposure button [14] [15] The original cameras folded into the body and used bellows to protect the light path. The film was put on two spools, one with the negative roll, and one with the positive paper and reagent pods. The film developed inside the camera. The exception to this is the Polaroid Swinger, a hard-bodied roll-film camera whose film was pulled out of the camera body to develop outside the camera. The film for roll-film cameras was discontinued in 1992. El éxito de la Polaroid 1000 radicaba en su concepto: la alternativa por entonces de Polaroid era la SX-70, una cámara de prestaciones profesionales y orientada por tanto al público profesional. This is really fantastic when you’re wanting that perfectly centered image. This is also super helpful if you’re trying to do experimental things with your images, like adding prisms or other accessories in front of the lens for creative effects like what Julia Beyer has shown us in this SIWF article. The Sonar Model

The Land Camera 1000 is a foreign-markets version of the original Onestep model, with the features common to that range: Sonar Autofocus - Labelled as both Pronto! and OneStep models, but usually with an AF or Sonar moniker. The Land Camera 1000 is a plastic-bodied, non-folding consumer camera that uses SX-70 integral film. Polaroid released a large number of such cameras alongside the 'prosumer' range of SX-70 folding SLRs. Because the emulsion is gelatin-based, and the Mylar covering does not allow water vapor to readily pass, the emulsion stays soft for several days, allowing people to press and manipulate the emulsion to produce effects somewhat like impressionist paintings. An example of this technique was used on the cover of Peter Gabriel's third self-titled album from 1980. Another example of emulsion manipulation was the cover of Loverboy's debut album, Loverboy. In my opinion, it’s the best Polaroid camera out there, AND it will always be a conversation piece whenever you pull one out. If you’re into aesthetics, the design of the SX-70 Land Camera truly cannot be beat. It’s the most beautiful camera out there, especially when it comes to instant cameras.

The biggest update was when the Sonar auto-focus feature was released. If you’re a lover of auto-focus, the sonar models are worth looking into. Manipulation of the photograph is best done about two minutes after the picture has fully developed. It will stay soft and workable for about 5–15 minutes. Some colors will be more difficult to work on (dark green), whereas others are workable for a long time (red). If the photograph is on a warm surface or slightly warmed in an oven, image manipulation is made easier. I enjoyed experimenting with this old camera and the Impossible film, but with a price of €2,50 per photo, it can become an expensive hobby. This might be the reason why Impossible users seem to be found mostly within artistic circles, while the more casual instant shooters use the cheaper and more developed Fuji Instax film and cameras like the Lomo’Instant. Lately, The Impossible Project has introduced a new enhanced version of their film, so I will be continuing my experiments with this old Polaroid camera! I used mine recently and was impressed with the great results. So if you need flash, that option is out there.
