About this deal

Getting your room acoustics on point is half the battle when it comes to making the best out of your audio system.

The Tweeter and the woofer are both carefully positioned to eliminate crossover and ensure that you get a balanced response across the frequencies. They have also included class AB amplifiers to ensure that you get perfect clarity with little distortion and no loss of quality.

If you are serious, then double the price can get you some truly outstanding budget speakers, such as the Adam T5Vs. From things like simple Bluetooth speakers to a more powerful set of active floor-standers, they are definitely becoming more and more popular. We’ve seen a few active DJ monitors in stores before but after a little hiatus, we now have something new to look at with the new Pioneer DM40 monitors speakers. Practically this means that the crisp sound quality does not decrease drastically depending on your location in the room. Front-Loaded Bass Reflex System Before we dive deep into the review, here are some of the features you stand to gain when using this speaker. We tested the Pioneer monitors in a small studio, where we had already performed an acoustic measurement, and based on the results, the acoustic treatment was also done. On the walls were printed sound-absorbing panels depicting instruments and parametric diffusers in a rather modern style. In a music studio, perfect musical piece of work can only be made if the acoustics of the place are properly treated with the right acoustic elements.

Our only advise regarding the speaker is to take care when handling and moving the DM-40. Because the speaker uses a soft dome tweeter and doesn’t feature speaker grills it can be easy to dent, ruining not only the look but the sound of the speaker. DM-40 Sound Quality

DJ Education & Community

There is a headphone port at the front of the master speaker for easy access when you want to switch to a different listening experience. Efficient and Smart Design The frontal curve edges are part of what contributes to the smooth and clear sound the speaker produces. Here’s how it works. These curved edges produce minimum resonance that’s important to creating the clear sound that the speaker makes. There’s no need to choose between DJ and music speakers with the Pioneer DM-40D-BT, as they’re all set for both roles. Simply flip a switch and the speakers’ characteristics adapt to suit DJ use (DJ mode) or music (Production mode). Using clever DSP (Digital Signal Processing) technology, the difference in sound is like listening to two entirely different pairs of speakers.

As a beginner DJ, you'd benefit greatly from this speaker, depending on where you intend to use it. If you need something for gigs, you should go with a more prominent speaker unless the gig requires you to play in a small, enclosed space. The reason is, this speaker works best as a studio speaker. It is the perfect replacement for computer speakers. With built-in Bluetooth connectivity, you can connect your smartphone, tablet, laptop, PC or other device – wirelessly. Featuring support for Qualcomm aptX and AAC, the speakers let you enjoy wireless music in high quality formats. The second-best option is getting desk stands, and the third-best option is having some foam cushions, which Pioneer DJs kindly supply with their speakers. The DM 40s come with two-meter long audio cables, power leads, and some foam cushions that act as miniature isolation pads. The amplifiers in the DJ DM 40 speakers are designed to ensure minimal levels of low distortion, even when cranking the volume. The tweeters and woofers are both aligned with each other so that there is no crossover between them. Great studio monitors are probably the most important sonic tool to help you create and shape your music – they are, essentially, your digital ears. The shift is noticeable, albeit not exactly massive. For light studio tasks, it is capable, and they are a functional pair of monitors for light mixing and editing work.

Every DJ needs speakers to be heard and the DM-40 range by Pioneer DJ is a compact bookshelf speaker system that aims to be more than just a DJ speaker. With various inputs and even inbuilt Bluetooth on some models, is the DM-40 the ultimate speaker choice for those with limited space and budget? In this review we find out! Build Quality Unlike what you might have heard before about budget speakers and how they sound, this budget speaker seems to raise the bar for how budget speakers should sound. For starters, beginner DJ would love the punch it produces when they play songs through it. It doesn't punch as hard as premium speakers, but I think it's simply impressive, especially for a portable budget speaker. What does stand out is that Pioneer succeeded in delivering on its promise of low distortion. Even as the speakers get quite loud, there is no noticeable harshness.

With built-in amplification, there's no need for a separate amplifier. With a punchy Class D amp built-in, these speakers are more than capable of making themselves heard on your mixing desk. Simply plug the active speaker into the mains and connect the other, passive, speaker via conventional speaker cable.
