It can get warm in the tent, especially with all the flaps down. I resolved this by using a fan or turning up the air conditioner. The Joovy Gloo travel tent is very similar to the Kidco PeaPod. The Joovy Gloo tent also comes in two sizes: regular and large. Similar to the KidCo PeaPod Plus, only the Joovy Gloo large size has the 4 flaps that can be rolled up for extra airflow. I think the roll-up side flaps are a nice feature. In the past, I either depended on finding a baby-friendly hotel to provide a baby crib, or rented from a baby equipment rental company when we traveled with a toddler, but I ran into issues planning our trip to Japan with toddlers. ADP devices operate under changing air temperature; for example, as an individual enters the test chamber the air temperature in the test chamber increases, resulting in different compressibility (adiabatic). However, the air in the thoracic cavity and near the surface of skin is isothermic and thus is more easily compressed (40%) than an equivalent volume of adiabatic air [ 125], which can affect FM readings. In adult ADP devices, thoracic gas volume is measured directly, but this is impractical in infants and young children. Thus, the thoracic gas volume is predicted based on infant weight, length and age. The prediction equation has been validated in full-term infants [ 126, 127], but its accuracy in pre-term infants and those with lung disease is unknown. Accordingly, Pea Pod measurements in infants with lung disease should be interpreted with caution because of altered thoracic gas volume.
