About this deal

The watch is presented with a beautiful blue dial with a sunburst finish that matches the color of the bezel perfectly. The dial reflects the light in a beautiful way and is very vibrant when the sunlight hits it. It’s difficult to get bored of this dial. What’s even better is that the case and the bracelet go together perfectly. I bet you’ve had a watch where you felt like the bracelet just didn’t fit the case like they were pieced together from separate watches. That’s definitely not the case here (pun intended) – everything fits together well, and overall, it looks very classy. The manual winding function is a convenient addition because you won’t have to shake your Orient Mako II to recharge its battery.

The Orient Mako II with a sapphire crystal is more scratch-resistant than the one with a mineral crystal. However, the one with a sapphire crystal is typically more expensive. Is the Orient Mako II made in Japan? Furthermore, I believe (I have not handled a Kamasu myself) the bezel edge is easier to grip on the Kamasu than any of the 2nd Gen Orient divers. I believe it's taller/better grip around the edge. Again, I don't use mine for diving, and grip isn't the #1 consideration, but for others it might be. Both my 2nd gen divers are a bit difficult to rotate, but not impossible. Once you develop a technique it's no big deal, IMHO. To me the bracelets feel the same, even with the end link difference. I replaced both Orient stamped clasps with milled ones, but personally neither needed it, just made them a bit nicer. The name Mako II or 2 is the second generation of the Mako. This means that it is an upgraded and revised version. The biggest change to this watch relates to the movement, which has been greatly improved with a completely new movement. In addition to this, it has gotten a few visual tweaks.

Fair Prices

With so much ubiquity and variety in the world of budget-friendly divers, I can see how it would be easy to gloss over the Orient Mako. The newer models bring sexier features with big visual upgrades and really offer great value any way you look at it. Still, there’s something charming about the older Orient Makos and I find that I enjoy wearing this one even if there are nicer, more expensive watches calling to me from the box. This problem has been fixed with the release of the Orient Mako II which features an Orient F6922 calibre. Right off the bat, there’s already a huge difference with the way the Mako III and Kamasu look. The Orient Mako III is a bit bigger at 43.6 mm while the Kamasu is around 41.8 mm in diameter. The Mako III’s coin-edge bezel also begs for a strong difference against Kamasu’s sub-bezel. But when you put them all together, there’s a special magic that can occur only when seeing the parts as a whole. That’s what the entire Orient Mako line achieves. Even though updating the 49343 movement with the F6922 removed the iconic day button, the Orient Mako magic is still there with the Mako II FAA02002D9.

It has a great finish, a high-performing in-house automatic movement, a classic dive watch design, and great attention to detail. The Mako II is a diver’s watch so it is obviously water-resistant – imagine how useless it would be otherwise! Mako II, Ray II (Ref: saa0200ab9, saa0200bd9, saa0200cw9, faa02009d9, faa02001b9, faa02002d9, faa02003b9, faa02004b9, faa02005d9) Orient has done a great job with the execution of the watch. It is beautifully finished and has a classic dive watch design which you will be able to recognize very easily. The Orient Mako has been something of an insider tip among watch enthusiasts for several years. With prices often below 200 USD, it offers world-class quality at remarkably affordable prices. Even the most popular entry-level Seiko watches can struggle to compete. Despite its low price tag, the Orient Mako is a robust diving watch that can stand up to the challenges and stressors of everyday life. It even offers practical functions like a day-datedisplay and unidirectional rotatable diving bezel. Thanks to its 60-minute scale, you can use the bezel to measure periods of time, such as dive durations or when cooking time-sensitive recipes.

Sales & New Arrivals

If you want/could want to upgrade the bracelet, to my knowledge there is no fitted end link bracelet that fits the USA II. As posted before, by other members, strapcode has many options available for the Kamasu. Its 200-meter water resistance rating, day-date display, and luminescent markers make it a highly functional watch suitable for everyday wear and diving. Its classic design and versatile style make it a great choice for anyone looking for a reliable and stylish dive watch. Ever since their inception in 1950, Orient. inc has been creating amazing timepieces and put their mark on the world as one of the renowned watchmakers of the world. Orient is a Japanese watchmaker that introduced us to a diving watch that took the market by storm nearly 15 years ago.

Orient suggests that deviations from the accuracy claims should not be regarded within one day but within a one week period of results. Still, I can’t help but smile each time I use it and it’s become one of the more distinctive features of the older Orient Makos. I should also mention that although Orient doesn’t test the watch per ISO 6425 standards, the Mako still provides 200 meters of water resistance and that’s more than enough in my book.
