About this deal

Using ingredients like the naturally occurring anti-fungal tea tree oil and stimulating peppermint, we have high hopes for the Hydrating Tea Tree Mint Shampoo from Organix (OGX), and we’re here to give you a truthful recommendation for those dealing with dandruff, dry itchy flakes, and an overall distressed scalp. Although I couldn’t find any scientific studies which showed that apple cider vinegar strengthened the the hair, I did find a study showing that shampoos with a lower pH level (like an apple cider vinegar shampoo) generate less negative static electricity on the hair. This means less frizz and dryness. Pros The photograph below shows what the OGX Kukui Oil shampoo and conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle. Key Ingredients Yup, I've tested and reviewed the most effective shampoos for greasy hair in the UK, to bring you a definitive ranking of the very best. This shampoo is far from gentle or natural, and we definitely recommend vigilance if you have sensitive skin. And if you are simply looking for a gentle tea tree shampoo, there are alternatives.

Hydrolyzed milk protein is the third piece to the trifecta of this shampoo, and is a film-former and moisturizer for the skin. It has a complete amino acid content and can add hydration and elasticity to the skin. It’s naturally healing and nourishing for the scalp and hair.I recommend the OGX Tea Tree Mint Shampoo as the best shampoo for reducing hair loss and promoting growth since peppermint oil has been proven in clinical trials to increase hair growth. The shampoo left my hair scented of mint and did a good job at reducing frizz and adding moisture. For a sulfate free shampoo I was also impressed at how well it lathered! The first thing I noticed was the cooling sensation on my scalp when I applied the Tea Tree Mint shampoo and conditioner. It’s great on a hot day or if you need to unwind. Even when I got out of the shower my scalp felt tingly and refreshed. This shampoo was the most refreshing and cooling shampoo I’ve ever tried! In the bottle it smells like mint chocolate chip but when you start massaging it into your hair the tea tree and witch hazel scents start to come through. Coming from a company that has a slogan of “pure and simple,” we don’t understand why they would use formaldehyde releasers, fake colors and fragrance. They are ultimately so worthless additives, and there are far gentler alternatives out there

Lawsuit against 'Johnson & Johnson' over OGX hair care products ingredients My sister frequently uses shampoo and conditioner from a brand called 'OGX' and some of the products have things such as argan oil and tea tree in them to combat things such as dandruff and oily scalps etc. How it Feels: The tea tree shampoo is a gel-like texture and foams up quite easily. It left my hair and scalp feeling soft. I personally would have no need for a conditioner if I used this shampoo – however, your personal taste may vary there. As well as Kukui oil, this shampo contains rosemary leaf extract. Rosemary has been shown in clinical trials to help stimulate hair growth and reduce hair loss. One study from 2015 showed that rosemary leaf extract was just as effective as Minoxidil for treating hair loss, and even more effective at soothing an itchy scalp. The OGX Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo is a clarifying shampoo designed for greasy hair. Since I have dry hair I was worried that this product might make my hair dryer, but I found it was actually quite moisturising. Don’t fall for it! Organix uses an alluring name and appealing marketing terms that give the impression that this shampoo and their other products are down-to-earth “pure and simple.” But they aren’t, and they include too many moderately to highly hazardous ingredients for our liking.

FINE & FLAT, LET’S TACKLE THAT

Diazolidinyl Urea, an antimicrobial preservative that releases formaldehyde and is a known human toxicant and allergen. The photograph below shows what the OGX Apple Cider Vinegar shampoo and conditioner look like when they come out of the bottle. Key Ingredients Fairly long post, to cut a long story short, the owners of the hair care brand called 'OGX' has had a lawsuit filed against them for the ingredients in their hair care products that may cause things like hair loss and dandruff etc - read the post for my sister's issues with these products and you can find an article about the lawsuit below.

Panthenol is used in this shampoo as a natural skin conditioner, which may go some way to explain why my hair felt so soft after washing. However, the company added few silicone-based conditioners (including Dimethicone and Amodimethicone) that can cause a build-up of product on the scalp and hair. Build-up can irritate the skin over time and cause more issues to come up. When it comes to your scalp, it’s delivering those same benefits, just for the skin on your head. It is said to be particularly beneficial for those dealing with scalp issues such as dryness, itching, flakes, and even full-on dandruff. Not to mention that the essential oil innately feels refreshing, a major win for anyone who craves that ultra-clean, totally refreshed sensation. The easiest way to reap these benefits? With a tea tree oil shampoo, of course. Both the shampoo and conditioner have a really nice apple scent. I found that the scent also lasts on your hair after you rinse the product out. I did not use this product for more than a couple of months, I no longer use it anyway as I didn't like it but my sister used it for at least 2-3 years and her hair condition is quite poor - she usually has a dry scalp, she is always losing lots of hair and it makes her unhappy so now that we have worked out that the 'OGX' shampoos and conditioners may very well be the cause of her hair related issues, I wanted to share this to this sub incase anyone is considering using those products or they are already using those products as they may be causing your hair issues. The gentler surfactants used in this shampoo are Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, PPG-2 Hydroxy Coco/Isostearamide, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, and Trideceth-12. PEG-120 Methyl Glucose Dioleate is another surfactant, but it isn’t as gentle as the others and comes with a high risk of contamination.

How it Smells: The shampoo from OGX smells very minty, as expected, and left my skin smelling very pleasant and fresh. I really enjoyed the smell and would love to carry this scent around with me throughout the day. Unfortunately, this shampoo seems like a safe, natural option at first glance, but is made up of a weird combination of both gentle ingredients and harmful ones that are known irritants and allergens.Tea tree oil (also known as Melaleuca) is a natural compound found mainly in Australia. It’s also is a strong anti-fungal and antibacterial agent that’s used in many personal care products. The antifungal properties have yielded some decent results in combatting the symptoms of Seborrheic Dermatitis in clinical tests. The addition of peppermint is interesting. It’s often added to invigorate the scalp, which is great for those suffering from dandruff and a dry scalp because the oil of peppermint can gently exfoliate and slosh away excess dry skin. It’s also stimulating and is great for increasing hair growth and increasing the turnover of the skin cells on the scalp to prevent build up. Since apple cider vinegar is good for rebalancing and strengthening the hair, I recommend this shampoo for anyone with greasy hair that has become brittle. If you have dry hair and are starting the Curly Girl Method, this also might be a good shampoo for your final wash.
