About this deal

The author, Justin Rhodes, is a homesteader who lives off the land in North Carolina with his family--the inspiration for his stories. He has a widely popular YouTube channel. As the child of a mathematics professor and a Christian church organist, I’ve always been fascinated with the interplay between science and religion—two different languages attempting to answer life’s most profound questions,” said Brown. “These contrasting viewpoints are central to my novels, and I’m thrilled to be collaborating with the Boston Museum of Science on this thought-provoking project, which explores these captivating topics through the uniquely immersive experience of the planetarium." Although this title isn’t an overtly Christian work, my understanding is that the author is a Christian. Last year, I reviewed his book The Rooted Life, and one commonality I observe between that nonfiction work and this picture book is a strong emphasis on family. In this time period, this is such an important theme, and I so appreciate that the author is setting an example of caring for his family, both in the homesteading lifestyle, and in the books he writes. Also mentioned: Hoare & Co, Lord Spencer, Thomas Squires (for the rail fence at Wimbledon Park), John Watridge, G. Bowstreed Wild Symphony is now available! #1 New York Times bestselling author Dan Brown makes his picture book debut with this mindful, humorous, musical, and uniquely entertaining book! Overall, “Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You?” is a fantastic book for anyone who loves reading about sounds and loves reading Dr. Seuss books in general! I would recommend this book to children ages three and up since there is nothing inappropriate in this book. An author's note at the end of this book, apparently based on a true story, cements the takeaway regarding the importance of maintaining a balance between teaching responsibility and just spending time together. Like he can sound like a cow by going, “MOO! MOO!” And he can also sound like a bee by going “BUZZ! BUZZ”

Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of the book from the publisher. Opinions expressed are my own. Since Mr. Brown lives on a farm, he can't run around it barefooted. Not wanting to stay in the house, Mr. Brown begs his dad to let him ride on his shoulders while he does chores around the farm. His dad agrees to it. He and Mr. Brown have a great time together while getting work done. Well, Mr Brown is a farmer, and the book basically has him go through the various sounds that animals make. Mind you, this is from an English point of view, which means that all of the sounds are the sounds that the animals make if they happened to speak English. The reason I say that is because when you go to other languages you suddenly discover that the sounds that animals make are different. Sure, the sounds don’t change, but the interpretation of the sounds do.

Edwin Lasscelles [Edwin Lascelles], Gawthorpe [medieval predecessor of Harewood House, Yorkshire], 1774-1781 Now, close-eyed, he stands on a horse. He makes noises of horse feet. But this is like no horse I have ever seen, Mr. Brown. OPEN YOUR EYES. Horse. Hoooorse. Hores. Whores. The horse is on yellow ground. The only yellow ground I know of is desert. There are no bushes. This is a desert of nothingness. This horse has no mane. He is going through the desert on a "horse" with no mane. It felt good to get out of the rain. The rain comes later, and it makes me worried. Yep, this is another kid’s book that I have read, but it also belongs to the collection of Dr Seuss books, which pretty much sets it apart from many of the other kid’s books out there. Okay, I haven’t actually read much beyond what I would have read as a child, namely because in my mind it is pretty much impossible to outshine the works of Theo LeSeig. The series is produced by CBS Studios, Imagine Television Studios and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group. Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie will serve as writers and executive producers for the series. Dan Brown, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Samie Kim Falvey and Anna Culp also serve as executive producers. This is a sweet story of the love between a father and his child. This tale shows you don't have to do something special to make good memories. In this case, everyday tasks are used to make a great day for Mr. Brown and his dad. Readers will love looking at the pictures of the shoe search, because if they look closely, they can find them! In 2005, Brown was named one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by TIME Magazine, whose editors credited him with “keeping the publishing industry afloat; renewed interest in Leonardo da Vinci and early Christian history; spiking tourism to Paris and Rome; a growing membership in secret societies; the ire of Cardinals in Rome; eight books denying the claims of the novel and seven guides to read along with it; a flood of historical thrillers; and a major motion picture franchise.”
