About this deal

You can add a leather butterfly on one of the flowers if you wish. I am explaining in detail how to make small leather butterflies like this one in the Leather Hydrangea flower Tutorial. Description Our Studio is delighted to present this original tutorial on the iconic English rose made using genuine leather.

One of the most unusual pieces from my Indian Summer line was this one called Summer Reminiscence. Not exactly a wearable hat, but a leather hat brooch, that’s what it is. I started with chrysanthemums and have created this rusty orange open chrysanthemum corsage made of thin leather. There are other recipes for stiffening solutions one can prepare. There are also proprietary stiffeners that you can get from craft shops or online.Don’t Limit Yourself to Just Roses! You Can Use the Same Techniques to Make Other Types of Flowers Such as Daisies, Tulips or Sunflowers. To save yourself time and effort you can use industrially stiffened fabrics for making flowers. But even if you do so for most of your designs there will be times when you will need to stiffen unusual fabrics for some of your projects like denim, wild silk, linen etc. This is why I recommend to try a couple of solutions mentioned above and choose one that is easy to use, made of readily available ingredients and has shown the best results to utilise in future. This is a fun free tutorial on stylised wild violet flowers made of genuine leather without the use of any specialist tools. The wild leather violet tutorial is suitable for all levels including complete beginners. Leather Violets Tutorial Carefully pull the stem down to make sure the stamen (and the loop) are glued deep inside the flower. If there is any excess glue remove it with the tip of your awl. For the next step prepare the stamens, the green fabric and the wires. I have dyed the top parts of mine purple so they are not seen inside the flowers. My wires are about 20 cm long for this design.

These dainty flowers come in all shades of purple/ violet as well as pink and white. The autumn has just started and I am planning to add more pieces to this bright line of accessories. I must admit, not all the experiments were equally successful, some like cyclamens and anemones need more work done to them which will keep me entertained during shortening autumnal days. All the fabrics must be stiffened before being cut out. This prevents fraying of the edges and allows you to shape the leaves and petals with the flower iron. It also helps the completed flower keep its shape. There are several different sizing options available. Each of them involves different ingredients giving you a choice of options to try and test. Take another petal and attach it to the base, slightly overlapping one edge of the first petal. Add more glue where necessary (but not too much). Continue adding petals, rotating them slightly with each layer until you have a full bloom shape. You can also add smaller petals to the center for more dimension. You can also experiment with different petal sizes and shapes until you achieve your desired rose shape. Step 6: Adding Details Take your floral wire or pipe cleaner and push it through the center of each petal. The wire should be long enough to extend beyond the bottom of the flower (for attaching to a stem later). Bend the end of the wire into a small loop at the bottom to keep the petals from sliding off. But leave the top of the wire straight for now. It’s better to add the stem later, rather than trying to work around it. Step 4: Building the Base

This step is optional. To secure a wire inside each flower I like making a small loop at the top of the wire (see above). Use an awl to wrap the wire around and make a neat loop. So what I was trying to achieve here is a line of brightly coloured accessories featuring autumnal blooms in rich and seasonal hues. Stems are part of the design in my brooch so it is important to make them look nicely finished. Prepare the stems for all your violets in this way. Practice Makes Perfect! With patience, practice and a bit of creativity, you can make your own beautiful leather roses that will last for years to come. So gather your materials, follow these steps and let your imagination run wild. Happy crafting! A2: While some basic tools like scissors and fabric glue are necessary, you can also use a heat gun or embossing tool to add more depth and texture to your rose. However, these tools are not essential and can be substituted with household items like a hairdryer or pencil. Q3: How Do I Store My Leather Rose?Of course I could not possibly forget about roses, so I created two: an open one made of velvety suede in cerise colour You can choose from a wide range of leather and faux-leather types, including thin sheets, suede, bonded leather or even recycled materials such as old handbags. Genuine animal hide is generally more durable and better for shaping intricate details, while syntheti c leathers offer more vibrant colors and textures.
