About this deal

There's nothing more annoying than putting on a load of washing only to have the clothes come out with a soapy residue because you've accidentally used too much washing powder or to have them come out still dirty because you used too little. But how do we know how much washing powder to use to avoid these issues? If you use the top of the cap ridge as a marker for normal (which many people mistake for a large load), you’re using a whopping 4 ounces of detergent per load! That means you’re only getting 18 3/4 loads of laundry out of this bottle of laundry detergent. If you do only large loads, using their recommended 2 ounces of detergent per load, you’ll get 37 1/2 loads of washing done.

A second bottle of liquid detergent with a measuring cup cap from Trader Joe’s (“Liquid Laundry Detergent”) similarly bore no such instruction, whether in an indication of manufacturing intent or even as a helpful hint. Nor did a third liquid detergent, Arm & Hammer brand. Of course! Persil designed the dosing ball to be used in the washing machine and to double as a handy measuring cup. In the middle of my laundry energy burst from my energy supplement (www.myxyngular.com/aviars) I was schooled. Drum size: Detergent dosage is based on the drum size of a conventional washing machine. The claim seemed to possibly originate several years prior in blog posts. An undated post from 2012 or earlier contained claims about a washable laundry cup — but one which had purportedly been created to be washed. The blogger also indicated the cup ought only to accompany loads of wash every fourth or fifth time:This isn’t the best idea we’ve ever had, but it’ll do the job in a needs-must situation. Tablespoon A medium-sized or 'average' load is about six to seven pounds, and will fill your machine about three-quarters of the way," says Forte. "If you're washing clothes with a lot of stains, use a little more detergent. Fill your cap to the next line." You can adjust the amount of powder accordingly or follow the handy guide from Ariel. 2. How full the washing machine is

Similarly, a laundry scoop size used to vary from product to product, so there wasn’t ever one universal standard.

How Much Laundry Detergent Should You Use?

If you use the bottom of the cap ridge as a marker for normal (which many people, including me, mistake for a regular load), you’re using 3 ounces of detergent per load. That means you’re only getting 25 loads of laundry out of this bottle of laundry detergent.
