At first, you might notice a strong chemical or plastic smell in this product that doesn’t go away right off the bat.When cleaning your Keekaroo Peanut, wipe it clean instead of fully submerging it in a tub of water. Additionally, I find the Leander changing pad equally squishy and supple compared to the Peanut (and definitely way squishier than the Hatch Smart Changing Pad and the Bumbo changer).

Belts: Safety first! If you have a wiggly or curious baby, you might be worried that they'll roll over and do gymnastics off the changing pad. Most of the changing pads we tested have a safety belt that helps prevent too much movement when you need to reach down for diapers, or over for baby wipes. When compared to the other changing pads, the Skip Hop is about the same length as the Keekaroo, but an inch and a half wider – which is worth noting if you plan on using a dresser as a changing table. Some changing pads also feature anchoring straps to attach them to a table or dresser, ensuring additional safety while changing your baby. Dr. Orajiaka recommends this option, if possible. The shape and design of the changing pad are meant to keep your baby safe and comfortable throughout all diaper changes and the upraised sides mean your little one isn’t likely to roll off.

The level of softness of the Hatch Changing Pad may vary based on personal preferences and expectations. While the Hatch Changing Pad is designed to provide a comfortable surface for diaper changes, it might not offer the same plush softness as some fabric-covered changing pads.
