About this deal

I think that this book was very helpful for many reason. Firstly because it is very genuine and personal as many of the rules that Karren states in this book and the way she explains them really appealed to me and I realised that I could take something away from that and use it in life especially because she uses many examples throughout the book which can be applied to day to day life and it made me think about it and I realized that I do those things and should use the rule she is stating to fix that so in that respect it has been very helpful.

Furthermore, in December 2013, Karren was awarded a CBE for services to Women in Business and Entrepreneurship. The Prime Minister later elevated her to the House of Lords, taking the title Baroness Karren Brady of Knightsbridge. Karren Brady Books: Karren delivers a compelling account of her unstoppable success, with plenty of insights, advice and anecdotes from her colourful career in football, publishing and business leadership. Speaking Topics include:Businesswoman Karren Brady has risen to the heights of success as a sporting director for top British clubs. From Birmingham City FC to West Ham United, Karren has made her mark as the first female to hold a management position in topflight football. Also a well-known face of British television, Karren is now highly sought as a speaker for public and corporate events. As a speaker, she is hired to share the tales of her successful career, along with tips on the key ingredients for success and how to turn a failing business into a success. I can't say that I would be able to do everything she suggests, not because I don't have the determination but more because my health wouldn't let me do it. However there was an awful lot of content that I have learned from. I felt inspired and enthused to push myself within the business I work in and my own personal goals. Plus, I have no intention of letting my disabilities stop me from achieving my goals as a woman, I will just adapt what I need to do. The goal of reading Brady’s book therefore was to help myself regain my perspective on work whilst allowing myself to indulge with a little soul searching on the way. To these ends the book was useful to me and it reminded me on what it means to be female and successful within the word of work. There are unfortunately prices to pay and sacrifices to be made for this and Brady does not gloss over this viewpoint and nor does she fluff it up in any way. The honesty here will, I imagine, be appreciated by many.

Initially, starting at Saatchi & Saatchi, she swiftly moved to LBC as a sales executive before joining David Sullivan’s Sport Newspapers Ltd, becoming a Director within a year. Often referred to as the First Lady of Football, Baroness Brady is one of the most recognisable women in football and is currently Vice-Chairman of West Ham United FC. Career: Karren Brady is one of the UK's best-known businesswomen. From the age of 18 she worked for Saatchi & Saatchi before moving on to David Sullivan's Sport newspaper empire. By the time she was 23, Sullivan had put her in charge of Birmingham City football club, which she took from administration to profit. Now with West Ham (bought by Sullivan with Ann Summers founder David Gold), Brady is, among other things, the new "eyes and ears" of Alan Sugar on The Apprentice, a non-executive board member of Arcadia, a Sun columnist, a mother and wife (of player-turned-manager Paul Peschisolido). Moreover, in 2006 Brady was operated on for a brain aneurysm. Feeling a bit lazy, feeble and underachieving yet? A few chapters into Brady's book and there's a good chance you will be. Karren Brady is Britain’s best-known business woman. An inspiration to women everywhere, her incredible success is borne of her passion, impressive business instinct, ambition, and her very genuine, honest, down-to-earth outlook.Motivated by her desire to create an impact in the industry, Brady chose not to go to university, instead taking up an advertising traineeship. A resilient and unrelenting worker, Brady’s work ethic paid dividends when she was appointed Managing Director of Birmingham City football club aged only 23, by the time she was 27 she was the youngest ever Managing Director of a UK plc, a testament to her business acumen and drive. Establishing herself as a formidable talent when it comes to the transformation of businesses, Brady has since achieved the same feat with West Ham, as Vice-Chairman of the club, leading them to sit in the top 5 fastest growing football brands globally. Passionate and straight-talking, Karren Brady has become one of the business world’s most in-demand motivational speakers.

Strong Woman tells how she balances her personal life with her professional life and priorities – her life as a wife to her husband Paul Peschisolido and mother to her daughter Sophia and son Paolo. Television, Radio and Press: Contrary to rumours, Karren is not an Arsenal fan, and her footballing loyalties have only ever lay with the two clubs she has represented. Brady's account of her brain aneurysm is frank without being self-pitying. It's as if the corporate mask slips and Brady the human being tentatively appears. "I might have looked strong but I found my fear quite difficult to deal with," she says. When being driven home very slowly after surgery people were tooting rudely at the car: "I wanted to shout out of the window: 'I've just had brain surgery, you twats!'" Karren’s wealth of experience and passion for supporting entrepreneurs and businesses led to her appointment as the prime minister’s Small Business Ambassador in 2013. Certainly she gives short shrift to the question that's clearly been the bane of her working existence: how could she stand up for women's rights (which she does at length in this book) but work so closely with people with interests in the porn business (Sullivan, Gold and Richard Desmond)? It isn't the stupidest question in the world, and Brady's response isn't the strongest – just some mumbling about organisations such as Sky having adult channels too.

Biography

Karren has also formerly worked as the Chairman of Kerrang!, a Non-Executive Director of Channel 4, in a non-executive position at Mothercare and on the boards of Sport England and Taveta Investments. The pinnacle of success is knowing you have reached your optimum output and reaped the rewards, a time Karren experienced in each of her ventures, whether it be club leadership, government adviser or author. Individual to each audience member is their ‘best’ and as a speaker, Karren focuses her talk on inspiring each person to reflect on whether they are achieving their best, and the small steps you can take to get there. How to Build a World Class Culture Furthermore, Karren presented ITV1’s ‘ Give It A Year’, where she met entrepreneurs who started a new business. Karren Brady – Motivational Speaker:

Lady Brady was made a life peer by the Prime Minister, entering the House of Lords in 2014 and received a CBE from the Queen for her services to business, entrepreneurship and women in business. Strong Woman tells how she balances her personal life with her professional, her priorities, her life as mother of two and wife. Karren reveals how she coped when doctors told her after a routine scan that she had a brain aneurysm, that she must have a complicated operation immediately and had a 30% chance of not surviving, and how it has since influenced her outlook and priorities. Brady's prose verges on monotonous "business android" rather too frequently, but she's gripping and often funny on such matters as being "first lady of football" at Birmingham City, and dealing with the hardboiled sexism she encountered on a daily basis. When a player yelled: "I can see your tits from here", she replied: "When I sell you to Crewe, you won't be able to see from there." (And she did!)Karren is best known for the time she spent as the Managing Director of Birmingham City Football Club. Her appointment at the club sparked great attention, becoming the first female to be appointed such a role in a male-dominated sector. Since then, Karren is also well known for being the Vice Chairman of West Ham United Football Club and featuring on The Apprentice. Sitting alongside business magnate Lord Alan Sugar, as the interviewer in many series before becoming Lord Sugar’s new assistant.
