About this deal

I phoned Joe and said, ‘You do realise that I am not bringing anything except for one guitar?’ And he said, ‘Well that’s helpful because I don’t own any!’ The funny thing is, we used his amps, which he selected without talking to me – and I say that because I am fine with that situation. He selected a 1962 Deluxe Reverb, I believe, and one of his Dumble Overdrive amps and then blended the two.

Sometimes you have to do that. It really is good to hear that the label was supportive. Like you say, it can be a 24/7 grind, and the relationship with the instrument almost becomes adversarial. Oh good, because that is what we wanted. To be honest, it is a live performance, as Josh said. We were talking about production techniques and he said, ‘What production techniques? You can’t get any more live than this. We used a live band in a live studio with the same amps, everything’s been done live.’ Dirty Truth – Joanne Shaw Taylor – Releases". AllMusic. Joanne Shaw Taylor (born 1985, England) [5] is an English singer and guitarist. She was discovered by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics at the age of 16. [6]a b "British Blues Awards 2011". Britishbluesawards.com. Archived from the original on 19 October 2011 . Retrieved 15 October 2011. As a musician and a recording and performing artist, Joe Bonamassa has always been a fan of Joanne’s music. Ultimately, what did Bonamassa set out to achieve by co-producing this magnificent, rich, and beautifully recorded and performed album for Joanne? Joe explains, “If you focus on what people might not associate with an artist and work hard on those areas it allows her fans to discover things and sets her up in a different light. Joanne’s a great singer and always has been. The guitar unfortunately has over-shadowed it until now. A lot of us in the business have the same problem. ” Otis Rush’s `Keep On Lovin’ Me’ brings Shaw Taylors’ smoky vocal to the fore and then we are treated to a full Chicago style electric solo spot mid song which is fearsome. The tempo slows with `If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody’ but provides a deeply soulful and powerful vocal delivery here. The album will be released via Joe Bonamassa’s independent blues label KTBA Records. It was produced and recorded by Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

Taylor was born in Wednesbury, West Midlands, England. [2] She grew up in Solihull and was inspired in her early teens to play the blues after hearing Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert Collins and Jimi Hendrix. [5] Dave Stewart heard Taylor play and invited her to join his supergroup, D.U.P., on tour in Europe during 2002. [3] Music career [ edit ]
