About this deal

Despite those shortcomings, the JBL Tune 750BTNC are an easy recommendation to make. They sound good, they feel good, and they cancel out sound sufficiently, even if it's not adaptive like more expensive options. The JBL Tune 750BTNC headphone is equipped with a 40 mm driver unit that delivers audio with a sensitivity of 100 dB. It has an impedance of 32 Ω, allowing for efficient power transfer and compatibility with various devices. Weighing 220 g, this headphone is lightweight and comfortable to wear for extended periods.

Those non-ANC headphones are cheaper than the JBL Tune 750BTNC. But, in fairness to JBL, they’re category outliers in their ability to deliver engaging sound on a budget without significantly neglecting any part of the mid-range. The JBL Tune 750BTNC’s bass isn’t perfectly stage-managed, but this only becomes evident when listening to less well produced albums. Plus, it adds wholly beneficial energy to pop and electronic music. It’s disappointing to learn then that the ANC here isn’t hugely effective. It removes a fair amount of low-frequency engine noise – which is the primary job of any noise-cancelling set of headphones. Also eliminated is the hum of air conditioning units. However, the JBL Tune 750BTNC barely touch any higher-frequency sound, instead adding a light bed of hiss, which will noticeable in a quieter room. Every visible part of the JBL Tune 750BTNC is made from plastic. The cups, the leather-like padding, the headband; you find even a flash of aluminium on these headphones. The JBL Tune 750BTNC deliver a very basic take on active noise cancellation, then, with no Ambient Aware function to let you hear outside noise with the press of a button.

Granted, the JBL Tune 750BTNC miss out on one key detail that much pricier headphones love to boast about. There’s no support for aptX Low Latency, which prevents lag between video and audio.

You can't adjust it via an app or on-board controls – again a concession that's predictable given the price tag – but it's a small issue when much of the time, you'll just want to silence all environmental sound. The headphones have a dedicated button for switching ANC off. Just press it for two seconds to toggle. The JBL Tune 750BTNC’s use Bluetooth 4.2 and support only the basic SBC codec, not aptX. However, I tried streaming a YouTube video with the headphones and lag is minimal enough to make it a non-issue. Plus, there was no glaring sound quality deficit (the bit-rate of SBC depends on its application by the Bluetooth chipset). JBL Tune 750BTNC sound quality – Energetic and enjoyable Note, too, that the JBL Tune 750BTNC fold up for easier bag-stashing. There’s no case in the box, however. The inclusion of active noise cancellation gives the impression that the JBL Tune 750BTNC offer more than some headphones at the price. The majority have only the basics, such as wireless. The Audio-Technica headphones display a significantly wider, more expansive sound. However, the JBL Tune 750BTNC offer solid stereo separation within their narrower sound field. They also have less mid-bass bulk than the Audio-Technica, suggesting the bass boost is actually more targeted – or at least localised – here. The JBL Tune 750BTNC feature standard 40mm dynamic drivers and “JBL Pure Bass” sound. This causes concern, suggesting the type of bass you hear in headphones such as the Sony MDR-XB650BT. However, there’s nothing to worry about here. JBL hasn’t broken the mould with the Tune 750BTNCs, or any of its recent wireless noise-cancellers for that matter. But it has produced another practical, well-featured and pleasant-sounding pair that should please anyone whose budget doesn’t stretch to the elite in the noise-cancelling headphone world. Those looking to squeeze out more battery life by deactivating noise-cancellation will be pleased to know that the JBL’s over-ear design alone provides enough isolation to give you and your music quality time together.

This becomes a little more pronounced when active noise cancellation is switched on, which means acoustic piano lines can sound more natural with ANC turned off. The JBL Tune 750BTNC also offers something called 'Multi-Port Connection', which is a fancy way of saying you can connect to two devices at the same time – meaning you can switch between devices whenever is convenient for you. There's also hands-free call support with a perfectly functional microphone, and that all-important voice assistant button that lets you summon Google Assistant and Siri. The JBLs aren’t designed to exhaust their owners either, opting for openness over directness to provide an easy, undemanding listening experience. In L.A Salami’s When The Poet Sings, there’s plenty of elbow room and headspace for guitar work to move around. The JBL Tune 750BTNC aren’t the height of class, then – but they do look the part. And they’re almost creak-free, too; plus they’re a great option to wear whilst running since they’re lightweight yet sit firmly on your head.

Volume control is conveniently managed through buttons on the headphone itself, providing easy access and control over audio levels. The JBL Tune 750BTNCs are a pair of winning headphones – good quality at a better price than most of the competition. Also consider...Instead, they use a standard SBC codec which may bug audiophiles and those who want to use these headphones for gaming and watching videos, but it's to be expected at this price. Similarly, with no app support, you won’t be able to fiddle with the equalizer to your heart’s content. Still, as a ‘one size fits all’ example, the JBL Tune 750BTNC still sound mostly great for those not fussed about tweaking the settings. Conclusion While you shouldn’t expect the fancier frills of pricier models, such as premium materials, their matte-finished plastic exterior, also available in red, blue and white, bears an assurance of quality. Just watch yourself while handling the sharp corners by the swivel mechanism.
