Ressler, Karen (February 13, 2018). "North American Anime, Manga Releases, February 11–17". Anime News Network. Archived from the original on October 7, 2021 . Retrieved May 5, 2022. It's interesting to compare this with Taichi's progress because on the surface it looks like Kohei is moving forward in time while Taichi is standing still. While that's not at all the case, Kohei has a lot more to deal with on the surface in this volume, because Taichi has been working full-time for three years, since he dropped out of college. It's important to note that neither of them feels like one or the other has done things the “right” way; Kohei's got certifications and will have a degree, but that never comes across as him feeling superior to Taichi, while Taichi never indicates that he feels inferior to his boyfriend. There's a focus on doing what's right for each of them as individuals, and their relationship follows that pattern as well, showing how they progress in their own lives while still forming a cohesive unit. Taichi may be ahead of the game in work, but Kohei's emotional intelligence makes him the more comfortable partner, and they balance each other out well. I am constantly thinking about what will happen next because there are two more volumes to go and my schedule is so messed up. I am in love with the art , the characters , story , dialogues , everything. The focus is on character. And not much really happens, actually, but I thought it was pretty sweet.

not. Unfortunately, as strong as the characters are and the first few chapters, I couldn't help but feel like the story wasn't strong enough to finish on its own. At some point, it did start to feel like it was going through the motions to hit certain character beats.

The characters really shine in this manga. As I mentioned earlier I find them to be endearing yet grounded in reality. They’re not without flaws and they have their own battles irrespective of the world around them. On top of that, their identities aren’t the reason that they exist which I appreciate, they’re not just vehicles of representation. Kohei lost part of his hearing when he was young, so he’s not totally deaf, and in this case, people tend to treat him bad. His classmates ignore him or some assume that he always needs help or that he can read sign language. He’s a man hated by other guys who don’t take the time to actually know him, and on top of that, he’s treated as a ‘price’ by obnoxious girls that are only drowned by his looks. Still, the characters continue their journey of discovery and their social networks become more complex through the increased focus on Taichi's coworkers and Kohei's new friend/s and it is fascinating to watch them adapt to unexpected challenges and situations.Written and illustrated by Yūki Fumino, the manga is serialized in Canna de France Shoin magazine since December 21, 2013. Currently, there are three tankōbon volumes of the series (I Hear the Sunspot: Limit count as one volume). It has been licensed for publication in the United States by One Peace Books under the name of I Hear the Sunspot. Despite this, I'm really loving this series for its sensitive and intelligent treatment of disability and prejudice, for its lovely characters and for a story that still promises unexpected and exciting developments. I Hear the Sunspot is written and illustrated by Yuki Fumino as her debut work. [1] Fumino came up with the idea of writing about the hearing impaired from being around friends and acquaintances who had a hearing disability. [4] She wrote I Hear the Sunspot based on what she learned from them as well as visiting a sign language school. [4]

Unfortunately, Kouhei’s insecurities take the best of him and Taichi feels confused about their relationship. How can he get him to smile again? How can he erase those barriers he feels whenever he talks to other people? How can he show Kouhei that he really cares about him? The last volume ended in a way that made it obvious where this one was going to go. As with a lot of real life relationships, Taichi starts his job and stops being able to see Kohei every day at school. So they start to feel a disconnect. Kohei is jealous of Chiba san getting to spend so much time with Taichi. Taichi is jealous that Kohei shares his personal life and worries with Ryu, and not him. This volume worked to show how Taichi was an outsider amongst a group of deaf people with them actually signing insults about him knowing Taichi couldn't understand them. Rebecca Silverman from Anime News Network reviewed I Hear the Sunspot favorably, praising its exploration of school stereotypes and Kohei and Taichi's relationship. [24] Regarding Theory of Happiness, she described it as being "sweet and thoughtful" and praised the art, but she also stated that it had "excessive" angst. [25] For Limit, Silverman praised the story's exploration of "different lived experiences of being 'normal '". [26] Corinne Barrett Percy described Kohei as an example of how people with disabilities and queer identities are seen as outsiders in Japanese society. [27]In a few words: things are getting complicated due to a bit of miscommunication and third parties but I hope they can talk things through, eventually.
