Therefore, patients receiving a large dose of a potent topical steroid applied to a large surface area or under an occlusive dressing should be evaluated periodically for evidence of HPA axis suppression by using the urinary free cortisol and ACTH stimulation tests. If HPA axis suppression is noted, an attempt should be made to withdraw the drug, to reduce the frequency of application, or to substitute a less potent steroid.

This cream contains various other ingredients that have moisturising properties, such as isopropyl myristate, and also contains liquid paraffin, which provides a layer of oil on the surface of the skin. This helps prevent water from evaporating from the skin surface. Both actions soothe and soften the skin, and reduce the scaling and itching of dry skin conditions such as eczema and ichthyosis. Hydromol cream contains the active ingredient sodium pyrrolidone carboxylate. It is used to help rehydrate dry, scaly skin.

Contraindications

People who are allergic to any ingredients of the ointment. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using Hydromol ointment and inform your doctor or pharmacist . If you get any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This includes any possible side effects not listed in this leaflet. If you're using Hydromol ointment as a moisturiser you can apply it as often as needed to relieve dry skin. It can be applied to any part of the body but avoid getting it in your eyes. Smooth the ointment into the skin in the direction of the hair growth.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding The other ingredients are liquid paraffin, isopropyl myristate, sodium lactate solution, cetomacrogol emulsifying wax, myristyl myristate,macrogol cetostearyl ether, hydroxybenzoates (parabens) Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. Water is also normally retained in the stratum corneum by a thin layer of natural oil (sebum), which slowsdown evaporation of water from the skin surface.
