About this deal

Nikka Japanese Whisky We are currently sourcing whisky from this distillery and are confident we will have some soon………… please sign up for a Stillhouse membership and receive a newsletter for up to date news and new releases. A resurrection of the original 15 Year Old “100% Sherry Casks” that was hugely popular in the 1990s, the GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival is bottled at 46%, non-chill filtered and of natural colour. It’s fully matured in Oloroso sherry puncheons, giving it a deep gold colour with a lovely mahogany heart. These high quality sherry casks are vital in producing an incredible concentration of aromas and flavours including chocolate orange, raisins, dates, coffee and treacle. Adding to this, the mashing water for GlenDronach comes from the Balnoon Burn, an underground water source high in mineral content, which leads to a full-bodied whisky that is rich in flavour.

As a result retail prices have risen, sometimes quite dramatically. That’s partly due to pricing policy by the distillery, but also because retail outlets realised they could ask higher prices for GlenDronach that was bottled in certain years — a regretful side-effect of this article. Current State of GlenDronach We may sell, license, transfer, assign or in any other way dispose of the Service (including Members) to any third party without any notification to you, e.g. (but without limitation) in connection with any reorganization, restructuring, merger or sale, or other transfer of assets. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid, the remainder of the Terms shall continue in full force and effect. With The GlenDronach 15 Year Old Revival, the cult favorite, sherry-happy distillery has reintroduced its decade and a half old, single malt expression that’s been aged in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía, Spain, to the market to much acclaim . The winner of a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco Spirits Awards in 2018, it seems that the guidance of master blender Rachel Barrie and new ownership blood has paid off. Without prejudice to the section Liability below, the Service may be temporarily unavailable during maintenance, updates, etc. We shall make reasonable efforts to inform you of any unavailability due to maintenance or updates. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to try the 18 and 21 year expressions at an in-store tasting and lo and behold, the rubber note I prepared for was nowhere to be found. Was there something different about these older expressions? Did something change across the entire distillery? Did I really have a bad bottle several years earlier? I’ll never know the answer to these questions for sure but I began exploring and appreciating the distillery from that point forward. GlenDronach Revival was the perfect name for a brand that completely reinvented itself under the guidance of Billy Walker. As the brand matured and eventually sold to Brown-Forman, the quality of the distillery’s products remains a talking point despite what I think has been a relatively consistent product line over the past five years. GlenDronach Revival is a bit unbalanced with a bit too much sherry dominance for my preferences and I found just a touch of rubber on the nose of this release. With that said, it’s a popular release among whisky fans for a reason and will satisfy the craving for lovers of heavily sherried whisky. Billy’s vision was to see GlenDronach return to its traditional Sherry style of single malt whisky. Filling of Bourbon casks was immediately ceased and in 2009, much to the delight of malt fans across the world, GlenDronach “re-released” its iconic core range of 12, 15 and 18 year old 100% Sherried single malts. After ceasing production in 2015, The GlenDronach Revival aged 15 years returned to the core range of the distillery line-up.

On the nose: Huge notes of dried sultanas, dried oranges, Tiramisu. Golden syrup, heather honey, it’s heady stuff indeed. Hazelnut praline, dark chocolate. My question is: can this really be called the same whisky? Should this really be called the same whisky? In line with the Federal Governments prescribed instructions, and to keep our staff and customer safe we have changed our operations: Dry spice first with clove, white pepper, and a little nutmeg, more walnut, lots of wine influence, dark chocolate, clotted cream, honey, hints of earthiness, spicy oak. With water, more nuttiness and some additional baking spice. Glencairn The Glencairn Whisky Glass is a revolutionary whisky glass that really lets you savor the taste and complexity of fine whisky. The glass is great to use for any of your ‘wee nippy sweeties’ whether it be Single Malt Whiskies, Irish Whiskies, or even single barrel bourbons. With the tapered mouth, you are able to really smell all of the nuances the whisky has to offer. Any malt advocate will love this glass! Champagne, Brandy, Wine… each has its own glass. Yet whisky, the worlds most complex spirit can be found served in anything from hiball tumblers to Paris goblets. It’s a bit like pouring your vintage champagne into a pint tumbler or your XO brandy into a shot glass! Whisky is a drink to be savoured. Time spent enjoying the flavours on the nose are equally important as those on the palate. Raymond Davidson decided it was about time someone designed a proper whisky glass… The perfect glass for whisky was created and left to mature for some twenty years at the bottom of a filing cabinet. After adequate maturation, his sons Paul and Scott decided to take his design to the people who know best…… No partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship is created as a result of your use of the Service. Big sweet sherry first followed by oranges, more plums, cinnamon, almonds, and a hint of fresh mint at the end. The sweetness and oak remains for a good long while. Water adds some lemongrass, anise, and a touch of baked apples.Things were going very well, but two key events over the next few years saw ownership of the distillery change hands and Allardice eventually losing his share in GlenDronach. The first was a fire in February 1837 that practically burned the distillery to the ground. Business suffered after the fire and some of the original partners retired, thereby opening the door for Walter Scott, former clerk and then distillery manager at Teaninich to become a new and equal partner of Allardice. The distillery was repaired, and business continued to flourish until the financial crisis of 1842 left Allardice bankrupt. The remaining partners bought his share and Walter Scott took the reins. The distillery flourished under his stewardship, expanding significantly between 1860 – 1880 and selling more whisky than any other distillery in Scotland during that time.
