About this deal

The downside to this is that it is entirely possible for the player who needs the thief the least to take it. Just to stop the person who would benefit the most from it from getting it. The expansion also doesn’t work as well at 2-players. Triggering a thief to force only one other player to give something up, and basically give it to the player that triggered the thief, is a bit unbalanc Will you fulfill the prophecy? Invoke the old Djinns, move the Tribes into position at the right time and the Sultanate may become yours! In Five Tribes, there is no board game as such. The playing field is made of thirty tiles (a 5 X 6 rectangle) arranged randomly. This is the Sultanate. This expansion also comes with one extra Djinn card, too. This Djinn, if summoned, provides immunity against the thieves. It’s safe to say The Thieves of Naqala creates a drop of extra tension and thorny conflict into proceedings!

YELLOW: Everybody has to kill one of their (yellow) Viziers. The Thief gets to claim one of these Viziers for themselves. Designed by Bruno Cathala, Five Tribes builds on a long tradition of German-style games that feature wooden meeples. Here, in a unique twist on the now-standard "worker placement" genre, the game begins with the meeples already in place - and players must cleverly maneuver them over the villages, markets, oases, and sacred places tiles that make up Naqala. How, when, and where you dis-place these Five Tribes of Assassins, Elders, Builders, Merchants, and Viziers determine your victory or failure.

FAQ

Next, build the player board, known as the Sultanate, by randomly placing the tiles in a 5×6 grid. Then place three random Meeples on each one. Yellow Meeples are part of the Viziers Tribe. Place any yellow Meeples in front of you as these will be worth victory points at the end of the game.

Crossing into the Land of 1001 Nights, your caravan arrives at the fabled Sultanate of Naqala. The old sultan just died and control of Naqala is up for grabs! The oracles foretold of strangers who would maneuver the Five Tribes to gain influence over the legendary city-state. Will you fulfill the prophecy? How to Play Five Tribes Step-By-Step (Coming Soon) Go to Top In Five Tribes, players are competing to gain control of the sultanate of Naqala. The player with the most points at the end of the game wins, gaining control of Naqala - until the next game!

You can then get into the main part of your turn - moving Meeples. Choose a tile with Meeples on it. Take them all into your hand. Then, drop each Meeple off on an adjacent tile until you run out of Meeples.

How to play Five Tribes

Be flexible in your strategy. Five Tribes does have a point salad type feel so do not get caught up in trying to get the most Elders (for example). Also, because of the nature of the game it is difficult to plan ahead. If you have too much of a fixed strategy you are unlikely to be able to see this through. A: The mini cards fit into the European mini size sleeves. You can get the red sleeves from Fantasy Flight. Youtube

When it is your turn, you choose one tile and take all the meeples from it. Then you place them on other tiles making a path, i.e. you are only allowed to put meeples on adjacent tiles. The last meeple you put down has to go on a tile that has at least one meeple of the same color. You take all of the meeples of that color from the tile and then act depending on the particular color. If there are no meeples left on that tile, now you are in control of it, and at the end of the game you will get points for that. Djinns are powerful bonus cards that you can activate if you land on a tile that gives you that ability. Djinns give you superpowers. To acquire a Djinn card, you need a white meeple. If you get your strategy right, a Djinn card can help you get a big bonus when scoring. Five Tribes is a deep strategy, yet it can be enjoyed by anyone from the very beginning: the rules are simple, the gameplay is dynamic and interactive. You arrive in the Sultanate of Naqala from 1001 Nights. The old Sultan of the legendary city-state dies, and its fate becomes endangered! There is a prophecy of the oracles that says some strangers will control the Five Tribes who want to gain control over Naqala. Those strangers are you and your friends! If you conjure the ancient Djinns and run your tribe wisely, you might become the new Sultan of Naqala! The Five Tribes are Builders, Elders, Viziers, Merchants, and Assassins. You can then get into the main part of your turn – moving Meeples. Choose a tile with Meeples on it. Take them all into your hand. Then, drop each Meeple off on an adjacent tile until you run out of Meeples. He then drops the yellow Meeple on an adjacent tile and the white Meeple on the following one; this move is legal because the last tile already contained 1 white Meeple. Red Assasin Meeples are devious – they can kill other Meeples! Either remove a Meeple from a nearby tile or kill off your opponents’ white or yellow Meeples. If you kill off the last Meeple on a tile, then you can take control of that tile, too! Moving through the game Mix all 30 Tiles and place them randomly face up, to form a rectangle of 5 x6 Tiles: This is the Sultanate 3.
