About this deal

When choosing the best drywall corner for your project, you can’t go wrong with metal or vinyl corner beads. Metal beads are the most common choice, and vinyl corner beads are similar but come in more varieties and are less prone to damage during transportation.

When your drywall meets with other materials like a countertop or fireplace, you’ll need to use an L-bead or J-bead. Archways require archway corner beads because of their flexibility. You can then layer on your fill coat of mud right away and, once that dries, your finish coat. Where standard vinyl will require around three coats of mud to finish, you’re already prepared to move on to your next project with the Fast Edge installation method. We named it Fast Edge for a good reason! Some types of J-beads only need to be screwed or nailed to the wall, while others require the use of a joint compound. 4. Vinyl Corner Bead The Grabber PanelMax is one of the most advanced pieces of technology in the drywall business today.First, inspect the damage to determine the extent of the repair. Is the corner bead loose, dented or rusting? Give it a slight press to see if there’s any movement. Tape-on metal corner bead is another very good option. It comes as metal corner bead wrapped with paper drywall tape. The paper tape, extends about 1-½ inches past the metal on both sides. This type of corner bead is applied similar to the way you tape drywall seams. Mud is applied to the drywall and the tape is pressed into the drywall mud. Once it is smoothed out, the drywall mud glues it firmly to the corners. Step 2 - Make sure it is Straight!

The 3M adhesive comes in 16.6 Oz. cans and has a pink tint so you can see exactly where the spray was applied. The Future of Drywall Corner Bead If the corner bead is significantly damaged, you might need to replace it, but if it’s just a few dents and scratches, you can likely fix it with a bit of filling and sanding. Step 2: Remove the damaged portion What makes the Grabber PanelMax an amazing piece of technology is the pre-programmed options that create laser-accurate straight lines and cuts in drywall.

Why Should You Use Inside Corner Bead?

Inside corner bead also comes specialized for the particular drywall style you’re using. Off angles, inside corners, wide corners…they each have their own specialized type of bead. The short edge of the L-bead goes in between the drywall and the neighboring material, while the other edge is finished with joint compound.

You’ll need to cut and install hundreds of pieces on the PanelMax to save drywall finishing time and get a return on your investment. But it is a bad (in a good way) machine to see in action. Unlike their traditional counterparts, they create a more modern design that creates a sense of openness. 7. Expansion Joints L-beads are used in situations when walls meet up with other materials, like countertops, windows, fireplaces, and paneled walls.Regardless of the type of corner bead used or the method of application, it needs to be put on straight and attached firmly. Drywall crimping tools and/or lasers are sometimes used to ensure the bead goes on straight. Lasers are the best way to ensure that corner bead is installed correctly, but they should only be used by professionals because of the inherent dangers Drywall Crimping Tools
