If only that player chose that card, that player falls and cannot score any more sparks or super-sparks, nor be the scout this round. During scoring if you are "in the dark" (chose most cards) AND you fell, then deduct 1 point for each spark and super-spark. I love that players have these dual layers of strategy happening in the game. You only get points if you select cards that other players also selected, so you are disincentivized from having a very broad criteria for which cards you feel associates best with the word.
Each player gets a personal player board, marker and lantern token in their own color. The game board is put down. Shuffle the Dixit cards and place three rows of five cards next to each other. The remaining cards form the draw pile. An additional worry is that if you have choose more images than anyone else in a round, you earn less points for that whole round no matter what. Stella is a fantastic game for anyone who loves the art heavy, card interpretation games but isn’t looking for the performative storytelling aspect. Now if you ever “fall” and reveal a card that no one else selected, all of your points you earned lose a star. This effectively halves your score for that round.

In this phase you reveal how many cards you have associated with the word. You do this by using your lantern chip. You place it on the number equal to your number of cards. The player with the highest number turns over the lantern token to the 'dark side'. Yet, you don’t want to be too selective because the only way to get points is by selecting cards. So you find yourself attempting to select enough cards to score higher than the others, but not so many that you’ll risk losing. Alone at the Top
