About this deal

Ecovacs states that the Deebot X1 Omni will last up to two hours and fifty minutes between charges; however, note that this is in Quiet mode. On maximum power, the robot vacuum lasted for one hour and ten minutes, before needing to be recharged. However, this was sufficient to enable a full clean of a three-bedroom, two-storey house.

The Deebot X1 Omni isn’t the quietest robot vacuum we’ve tested. Our decibel meter measured a maximum of 60dB when it was cleaning hard floors, rising to 70dB on Max+, and a few decibels quieter on carpet. This is the equivalent level of noise made by a shower. When you’re not using the mopping tool or air freshener, there’s nowhere to store them, so you’ll have to make space for them. Nevertheless, the overall design of the Deebot T9+ is simple and unobtrusive, so you won’t mind leaving it out all the time. Turn the Deebot X1 Omni over and you’ll find a swivel wheel at the front, plus two additional wheels on either side of the unit to help the robot vacuum to work its way around your home. Just like other robot vacuums, such as the Dreame Bot L10 Pro, the side wheels raise and lower, too, allowing the robovac to effectively clean a range of different surfaces. The mopping pads are attached to the bot with Velcro, so they can be removed and thrown in the washing machine if they get especially dirty. Ecovacs has implemented a design change here as well, with the mopping pads automatically lifting up when a carpet is detected. While this works well, I found it didn’t lift high enough to prevent my medium-pile carpet from getting damp, particularly around the edges where fibre meets hard floor. So far, I’ve only asked the X2 Omni to map my apartment once, and it was fairly accurate. It initially mapped my kitchen and a hallway that leads into it as one single room, but this was easily fixed afterwards by separating the areas in the app. I’d like to give the robot a few more chances before definitively commenting on its mapping capabilities, but my first impressions are that it gets the job done reasonably well.

Ecovacs’ Deebot T9+ sits just a few places below the brand’s top-of-the-line model, the Deebot X1 Omni, yet still delivers many of the same features, such as intelligent mapping and mopping. Sure, you might think it’s a bit of a splurge, but considering all the time that’s spent keeping your floors clean, the investment will pay for itself. As you’d expect, there’s also a brush that combines soft bristles with silicon fins to ensure debris from all surfaces can be collected. There are two side brushes, too, which can help sweep dirt from crevices into the vacuum’s path, and two removable 5.2in mopping pads. For sure. The sensors allow you to avoid pet messes while the main brush and powerful suction collect all hair effortlessly. Which vacuum and mop cleaner is the best: Deebot X2 OMNI or X1 OMNI? Underneath the X2 Omni is a rubber roller brush, which I have not yet needed to remove and manually clean. This is quite different to previous Ecovacs models that have used a roller brush with soft bristles and silicone fins, which I needed to remove and clean after each use. Thanks to the X2 Omni’s new square shape, the main brush is wider than previous models too. There’s also one side brush that rotates inwards to push dust from room edges towards the bar brush (as we saw in our Dyson 360 Vis Nav review), and there are two rotating mopping pads underneath. The Deebot X1 Omni robot vacuum offers four levels of suction, three levels of water saturation and a 13.5oz / 400ml dust canister, which is located beneath the lid of the robot vacuum. However, unlike the iRobot Roomba J7 Plus or the Dreame Bot W10, for example, the lid here isn’t hinged – so rather than having to simply lift a flap for access, you’ll have to remove the whole lid. There’s also a 2.7fl oz / 80ml water tank located inside the robot vacuum for mopping. The Deebot T9+ is about the same size as the Deebot N8+, measuring 3.75in / 30cm tall and 13.9in / 353cm in diameter, which leaves a good amount of space for it to fit under and around furniture. However, it probably won’t clear most couches and tighter spaces. If the station is placed on a deep-pile carpet or rug, DEEBOT will have more difficulty returning to charge. During emptying, a small amount of the garbage smell will be driven out by the high-power fan, but this does not affect normal operation.

You control the robot vacuum using an intuitive companion app that’s easy to navigate. On Deebot’s first run around your apartment, it creates a highly accurate map, so you can clean custom areas based on needs. It’s also from here that you can adjust settings and create schedules. You’ll even receive notifications on your phone if there are issues during cleaning and also once cleaning is complete. One major concern is maintenance. Some of the T9+’s components need to be replaced more frequently; the air freshener and dust bags every 60 days or so, depending on use. Others, such as the brushes and filters, will last for one hundred hours or more, although cleaning using the handy included tool is suggested to maintain peak performance. If you’re happy to hand off some of your household chores to something that’s plenty capable of getting the job done, consider Ecovac’s Deebot T9+. It delivers solid performance in both vacuuming and mopping with minimal effort on your part, so you can spend your free time doing what you enjoy. Ecovacs Deebot T9+ review price & availability The app provides instructions on how to clean those accessories, as well as the percentage of time left until replacement. Following 11 hours of cleaning, most of Deemaid’s parts were still in the range of 90%. But that’s just a suggestion, with many of these parts lasting much longer. Just use your discretion.

This square-ish robot vacuum gets a little closer to your corners

The X2 Omni has performed well in my mopping tests so far, as its rotating mopping pads help it ‘scrub’ the floor, doing a much better job than competing robovacs which simply wet and wipe the area. I’d like to try some further mopping tests on more dried-in stains before giving a final word on its abilities, but it's looking promising so far. While the mopping abilities have been quite good, the X2 Omni isn’t able to properly lift the mopping pads high enough to avoid dampening the carpet. In my testing so far, the edges where carpet meets tile have been left slightly damp, though not enough to be worrisome. I’ve only tested it with Medium water flow level, and I’ll need to see how damp carpets can become while using the highest water flow setting before giving a final verdict. Like many of the companion apps for robot vacuum available right now, the Ecovacs app is simple to use. Once the robot vacuum is connected to your Wi-Fi, you can choose between either entering the cleaning menu or accessing the built-in camera. The Deebot X2 Omni debuts a new shape with softly squared-off corners – a first for a robot vacuum from Ecovacs. Robovacs have traditionally been circular as it’s easier to get around obstacles, but it presents issues of its own, like room corners remaining largely untouched. These maps can be viewed in 3D as well as 2D, and even allow you to assign floor material and add furniture such as TV stands, or beds, to the map.
